That's a pile of snipe! And they're big buggers over there. Don't think I saw that many all season this past fall.

Thanks for posting.

And... Ollie, what is that rifle with the laminate stock? I thought it was a Savage rimfire at first, but then noticed the bolt shroud. Looks familiar but I can't place it.

Thanks for posting.

They are actually woodcock. I don't generally shoot snipe as they are not worth it for the little meat you get.

The rifle is a howa 1500 in .223. The stock is from a company in the uk called highland outdoors.

We are lucky to be able to use moderators over here. Foxes are a big problem where I live with out pheasant shoot & also sheep farmers.

For some reason I didn't think you had Woodcock there.... and what time is it there? Are you a night-owl or something?

Yes fella 6 hours sleep a night is what I generally run on lol. Too many late nights out hunting foxes. I am also very partial to my NFL, so I spend many late nights watching that.

We have Eurasian woodcock, they are not native to Ireland, they migrate from mainland Europe in the winter. I believe they are slightly larger than their American cousins.

Unreal! Thanks for posting the awesome pics and scenery. Please continue.

Most of us in Canada are under the impression that to be able to hunt in Europe you need to basically be flush with cash. Is that true?
