Default CWD elk testing results

We shot cow elk at Suffield on Nov 17. Those green CWD tags are directing to

www.srd.alberta.ca/hunting/cwd

but I can't find where to enter tag # to check results.
Anybody getting results or it is too early to ask ?

Any positive results from the base in past 2012, 2013 ?

I successfully hunted Suffield on Monday. The question was asked at the morning meeting if there had been any positive results. The answer was NO. The CWD guy taking heads said that you will be called at the phone number you provided if there was a positive result from your animal. Negative results sent via email to the address you provided to WIN REALM. Are you registered on Realm?

Thanks
Yes, I am registered and did not get notification yet.
Very good that there was no positive case on the Base.
Somebody was posting that received negative results from November hunt already 2-3 weeks ago so I was concerned as our elk was registered as kill # 10 of this season.

I would strongly encourage you and all hunters to read the CWD updates you can find through mywildalberta.com. Here we find no wild elk has tested positive. Knowledge is power and staying up to date on CWD enables us to know when we have an animal that could possibly have CWD.

Testing Suffield elk is done because this is the most likely wild population in the province to have the disease, but the risk is so low as to be negligible. We err if we think testing this population has anything to do with risk of a positive. Rather it's the best way to find large numbers of elk to test - in the highest risk population and therefore keep track of the movement of the disease in a negative result.

Of course it's reassuring to have a negative test, but I'd sure not wait simply because it is being tested.

Default Late Negative Result

Although it was not an elk, for my Mule Deer which was dropped off in Edmonton on Nov 24th, I just received my `Negative` result last night. So it can take a while to get your results back.

Good luck.

Default Elk

Could be quite costly trip if it was positive. For many that have to pay to have it butchered is costly these days.
