-If it progresses into dinner, definitely try the Italian Farmhouse - you will win at dating.

Great suggestion Doetracks!
However, Given her carefulness about the first meet, I doubt she wants to ride there with him. More likely just meet him wherever they agree. That way she can leave easily if it goes south. Get in strange guy's car and be driven out into the country? Probably not. LOL

Cafe Rosso is also a good little coffee shop to try. I think they have 3 locations in Calgary.

Nothing wrong with a woman not wanting to meet at the bar.

Why would she be going on a date with him in the first place if she thought he was strange Oko? Having flashbacks?

Who said he had to drive, she could also drive, shows trust from him in her driving ability

Be different, not average. It works.

Take her to your favourite coffee place. If she doesn't like an atmosphere that suits you.... then you've learned something useful.

My suggestion was multi-faceted

Unless they have known each other for a while, I would suggest separate vehicles (so one can escape if need be ).

Given that this is an "outdoorsman" forum, I have to surmise that Macdrizzle would consider himself outdoorsy. That said, if HE is, WHY WHY WHY would an inner city location be suggested?? This (in my opinion ONLY) would be one way to determine is she shares an interest in the outdoors.

Trust me, I have seen wayyyyy too many people fall into relationships only to find out later that something (like hunting) becomes a thorn.

Wish there was a place like that around here, but there isn't.. at least that I know of.

Convienience and no pressure. Like you said with the driving issue, it's an easy escape.

Does Bass Pro have a coffee shop. If it doesn't work out, you could still go shopping.

Proposed to my wife in a bar. Tough to make yourself understood, yelling across the table.

I suppose...

Maybe Bragg Creek could be saved for date 2 or 3.

My concern about her being accepting of the outdoorsman lifestyle still stands, though

Artigiano is very good but busy, same with Analog.

I think in Calgary small, good and a bit less busy is Kawa Espresso-same folks as Cochrane's Java Jamboree

Or kind of a coffee place that you could stretch into a meal is Corbeaux Bakehouse

Default Date?

He calls it a date, I'm thinking it is more of a meet&greet. It should be kept simple and to the point, to establish if there is a connection, if there is, plan a date from there. I had a coffee 'date' couple months back, had a great conversation for an hour and forty five minutes, but no connection for either of us. To me it's not the place or activity it's the person I'm focused on.
