Are you still there right now? I'm interested in knowing if the water is as murky near the PP and Marina as we found elsewhere. We noticed the Marie creek open and flowing pretty fast, so that may be the cause for where we were.

There She Blows
Heads-Up. The wind was absolutely howling on Cold Lake yesterday from the NW. We called her quits around 12:00noon and was very tough trucking back to shore. Snow packed up in the truck and is still melting off in my garage. She'll be drifted in pretty bad I would suspect especially on the Southern shore.

Agreed. Never caught a Laker in water over 100ft, likely because we never target them over 100ft as it is way easier on the fish and it is much easier to fish. Fishing deep on a very deep lake like Cold is a misconception.

Marie creek does not flow into Cold Lake. Only major system flowing into Cold are the Martineau (North) and Medley (West).

Fishing deep can't be a misconception....because the fish are there lol. If there is any misconception, it's just my reluctance to fish in shallower water. I would have to agree that they are a species that will roam the entire lake and the entire water column to feed. I've never been skunked fishing in 100 fow or more.

It must've been the medley then we saw. I looked at a map and it was unnamed so I assumed it was Marie creek.

anyone watching ice thicknesses? coming up next weekend March 19-22, with Truck and holiday trailer, not sure I want to take the trailer onto the ice if its not holding up well. Mother nature is promising warm weather (+10-+12) over this coming weekend.
can a guy park his holiday trailer in the "boat trailer" parking at the Provincial Park?

any suggestion ?
Hello all, was heading out to cold lake this coming weekend from Edmonton and wanted to access the lake. It is the first time fishing laker. My friend and I have no idea about it but we driver 4x4 truck. We want to choose one from PP or marina or french bay. Not sure which one would be easy to access lake. Also at this time would to try deep water(100+) or shallow water (between 20-- 100 feet)
Any advice would be much appreciated. or some info also can send message to me
Thanks.

Access might be a bit greasy but shouldn't be to bad from either access. As for depth they can be anywhere from 150 ft to 30 ft deep. Just have to find the active ones. Lately I've been having the best luck in shallow around 50-60 ft but that can change in a matter of a hr. I'll be around the lake this weekend... If you see a 2013 silver gmc Sierra on the ice feel free to swing by! Good luck out there!
