When they decide what the numbers should be, to justify whatever tags they want to take away.
Or possibly it got shredded. To avoid revealing the above.

No I did not. I had no idea it was there. But then again, why would it be. It's poor information.
Now, next time you call me a liar you had better have some good reason for it.

I believe walking buffalo was referring to the survey report fish and wildlife ask us to do. If everyone told the truth, the game harvest survey would be pretty useful and accurate

Welcome to reality. It isn't and in its current format never will be. I don't care how much we wish it so.

The survey needs a comments section and a spot to collect data from hunters who pass on animals. We ca help be their eyes and ears, but the questions asked on the survey can give misleading results. I'm a fan of it btw. It just needs some adjusting

Want to try again Chuck? Lol....
Why is it poor info? Too many liars? Something else?

Let me ask you this. Would you base any business decision on data collected in like manner?

Exactly , when some one says your only getting half the story, when its the game harvest survey it's more like one quater of the story.
Do you lie on the survey? What kind if question is that ? If you choose to do the survey what do you have to gain by lying? The problem is it leaves out to much info, they will not/ do not tell us how the info on the survey is interpreted . It's is wishy washy info at best, at worst zones are heading to draw on little to no footing.

I'm not assuming anything. I'm telling you that the data is questionable. I can tell you how to fix the problem but it would require effort. So out would come the claws and cartoons.

I have no idea if the results obtained from the online surveys are accurate, but I took part in conducting surveys many years ago, when our club was paid for every survey that we completed. These were phone surveys, and I had to be very careful to ask if the person that I was talking to actually used his tag on an animal. Many people were quick to tell me that they got a moose or an elk, but a good percentage admitted that someone else had actually killed and tagged the animal, when I asked again if they had actually used their tag. When I compared my results to the results that other club members obtained, their results usually had much higher success rates, because they weren't as specific as to how they asked their questions.

So what exactly are we trying to gather? From your post if the hunter wasn't the one that pulled the trigger then the animal didn't really die? That makes things a bit skewed right there no?

Judging by my experiences in conducting the phone surveys, it appeared that n some cases, multiple people were likely reporting a kill for the same animal. In other words, fewer animals were actually killed, than were reported. People seem to like to tell others that they got a moose, even if they were not the one that actually killed and tagged it.

Now, gather that information where less than 20 tags are issued and a 25% swing in tag numbers are possible. Two non participants can have an enormous affect on that information. No?
Now, would you base any business decision based on information gathered like the harvest survey is?
