Default DIY Yukon Moose Hunt

Has anyone attempted a DIY Yukon Moose Hunt ? I want to hunt the Yukon for moose and caribou in the worst way and plan to do it the hard way. I am an experienced hunter and have been doing wilderness hunts since I was a young kid. Just looking for tips and advice, maybe just to see if anyone on here has attempted or succeeded such a feat.

The short answer is that you can't.

You will have to hire an outfitter or if you know someone that lives up there you could go the hunter host route which has a limited number of tags available each year.

The only way you could do it if you don't live there.

Hope that helps.

Huntingnut is correct ... either start saving megabucks (in the $15,000 to $20,000 USD) or start the process of making a Yukon friend ... and i hear that next year they'll be going to a lottery system for the 'buddy hunts' ... you'll still need a buddy but you'll need to put in for a lottery draw ...that's the rumour anyway. I've hunted up there twice and yes it is a hunt of a lifetime!!!

It appears to be getting tougher each year to get a tag. I saw a refrence the other day they were only giving out 21 tags in one zone. I suspect wont be much chance for out of state hunters.
