Default Pretty good pre season day

I know this isn't about the NDP, RCMP, or traffic fatalities....but bare with me as I brag on a pretty good day I had as an outdoorsman getting ready for the season.

Firstly, ended up getting permission on a lease west of town that a friend of mine is running cows on, so I'm pretty pumped about that.

Drove 3 hours first thing in the morning to go to work, had a great day on the job and was done by around 2pm.
I gained access to the river that was running past the property I was working on, and I just happened to have my fishing gear in the truck...5 casts later...bang, a nice 26" Pike!! What a fun little fight he was!

In the truck I go, and I'm home by 5:30...get the garage cleaned up enough to start shooting my bow again (it got pretty congested in there, no idea how that happens!)

My beautiful wife has BBq'd chicken ready, and fresh green beans from the garden...awesome meal...shoot a few more arrows and it's time for the football game...

During the game I disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled 4 shotguns and 2 rifles....ready for the season...just have to pattern the shotguns and sight in the rifles some time next week!!

So, between 5am and 10pm...I'd:
- got permission on a section of awesome land, caught a fish, cleaned 6 firearms, set up my bow practising lane and shot a few arrows!!!
....and that was a WORK day.

None of that was planned...just the way the day worked out....love it when that happens!

Not a bad start to the long weekend, and a pretty good day for a hunter who can't wait for the season to start!!!

Saturday's job got canceled, so Saturday and Sunday belongs to the kids...then it's back in the truck and up to La Crete for a few days of work. Never been up there and really looking forward to it.

Sounds like one of those great days that only come along once in a Blue Moon.

I appreciate and respect your outlook and gratitude! Sometimes people find it too easy to throw themselves pity-parties.
