Your right, sliding is the issue. The newer stuff is rough and has been known to scratch the heck out of the glass, if you have an induction top then just put a tee towel between the burner and the pan ( sound weird but that's what the people at Trail Appliances tell me) the vintage stuff is smooooooth

I use cast on glass top as well. I bought new lodge pans, very rough. Took my oscillating sander to them inside and out and then reseason, works well.
