Default Barrel lengths

I am just wondering if anybody has tried different barrel lenghts other than a standard 24" barrel in the WSM calibers? If so how did it effect how the preformed? Longer or shorter, it doesn't matter.

I've shot them in 24, 26, 28, and 30" barrels, some measured measured velocity was a gained, fouling was nil, and they were controllable (tech term)
However, none were factory barrels.....

My best guess would be an extra 30 fps per inch.

I get about 30 - 50fps short of Nosler #6 reloading manual out of my 325 with a 22" barrel (HS Prohunter lite) before I get other pressure signs. I am roughly running book velocities from a 24" winchester 70 in 300wsm.

One of the advantages of the short mags is a more efficient powder burn and from all the research I've done, they don't gain as much from extended barrels as a regular magnum would. I don't think the gain of going to a longer barrel would be significant.
