Thumbs up Hello from Los Angeles!

We are here fishing, spent a couple crazy days already seeing the sights, cruising the cool spots and fished all day today. Going out again tomorrow, then monday on a big boat for fish bluefin tuna.
Pics to follow!

Good luck with the bluefin, that's another bucket list item for me.

I am glad someone enjoys la. Been there a few times and it and Vegas are on my 'never go back list'. Wife and kids were there this summer, all wanted to come home after 2 days.

I actually stayed in San Pedro. I think I was the only white guy. Everyone else was 5' tall, smelled like rebaked beans and talked very fast. Except for the Asians that run everything.
I was waiting to go out on the big boat on 911, and as the hotel is across the street from the USS IOWA I went over for the tour. Now I have been on 2 battlehips, what amazing machines.
Getting pics ready now.

Looks like a great trip! Im jealous as my 3 times out fishing for chartered marlin have been unsuccessful.

What kind of tackle was used? Were the rods light enough so that it was a good fight every fish or were they heavy ocean rods and just hauled the fish in like a 2x4? I hear tuna are just little bullets that can really fight if the gear is light enough.

Congrats.

We started fishing the boil with heavy gear and switched down when they backed off the bite. Smaller gear was 25-30 lb. They are the best fight I have ever had, 20lb tuna puts up more than a 45lb spring or 75lb halibut. They have shoulders that are amazing. I can not wait to go again.

Better. Best I have ever had. Shrimp, mussels, potatoes, onions, peppers.

I just got back from albacore fishing and thinking of going for yellow fin next year. What one do you think put up a better fight.

I have only caught yellowtail, yellowfins and skipjack but of the 3 yellowfin is the beast. Pound for pound the best fight I have ever experienced. A 20lb yellowfins pits a 50lb salmon or 100lb halibut to shame.

Who did you book with if you don't mind me asking. Sounds like you had a good trip and would like to try yellow fin next year. The albacore was a blast I can't get over how hard they fight.

New Lo An out of San Diego. $210 For overnight trip. You pay on top for drinks, burgers, breakfast but can bring your own too. Gear is not supplied but the store will rent to you. Bait is supplied.

That is still a pretty sweet deal I think.
