Just an update, I did recieve a response to my email, not from the minister himself, but from the director of Wildfire Prevention Section Wildfire Management Branch, and the long and short of it says that they are monitoring the situation, and as soon as conditions reach a level that they are comfortable with, the band and restrictions will be lifted

We don't need the fire ban lifted. But public access on foot should be permitted. I can see snow on the ground from my house!

I agree, they will probably be thinking it's easier to leave the restrictions in place than lift them and then have to implement them once again

Think about it! It was way drier on sept long weekend and they let all the campers enjoy their pastime. But now that is not as dry they keeping hunters out ? Most of us would be happy with foot access only. Keep the fire ban on for sure. I have sent an email to the minister and I suggest anyone that wants foot access do the same! bruce.mayer@gov.ab.ca

Some day Ram.... imma gonna sheep hunt.
I know way too many sheep hunters. And I know enough not to ask them.
I've alway told my son that the elk sang when he was born.... every year we try to hear them. This year he'd like to connect with one.
Hope he gets that chance...
But today... it's out to the prairies to chase Huns methinks.
He's sleeping in... heh!
Landowner... I hope things r ok with you and yours.

See how easy it is to keep more then OHV's out of the forestry. One thinks it's ok to keep one user group out of the forestry, but when it's your favourite pass time they keep out the bitchin and the moanin starts.

BC just opened up yesterday.
We got snow-rain coming again this week. If they don't open up by that second rain day..... then this decision is going to start feeling nasty political.

Nothing keeping me out. I've been out enjoying my pastime . Just have to travel a bit further north. Got to see some nice new areas. Let's not get off topic here . Does anyone else see what is possibly wrong with the shut down. You can have a Bon fire on the north side if 532. But can't take a step south? Pretty sure the grass is as dry in both sides!

I've received a reply from the deputy Minister after letting him know he has an opportunity to align his party with the voters. I called him on letting things ride during much drier conditions during the long weekend, and the optics on this looks like his party is anti user group. I also offered up a voluntary Tag surrender option, where points are restored as a "win win".
Here is the assistant deputy ministers email Bruce.Mayer@gov.ab.ca
And Patrick Lowen, Director Wildfire prevention patrick.loewen@gov.ab.ca
Always good for the Gov to know our thoughts.

Well
I fired off a letter yesterday morning , then drove off to the prairies to shoot ducks and Huns... had a great time. Checked my email... and I got a quick, very lengthy response back.
It was a reasonable response. It basically said keep looking at the ministerial orders... we are deciding daily.. and we want to get people hunting as soon as we can.
Nice reply. Quick response.
I'm ok with that.
Oh... and we got a few birds too!

Thats a promising tone, my reply was less interested than yours, maybe they are beginning to see the level of interest and the need to not drag their heels.

Right now with the forestry closed it is a safe haven for all the animals that have been driven out of the park. Me thinks it will stay closed for the rest of the year to give the animals a break from all the chaos that they have just endured. Hope not though!!!

We have forest fires all the time, surrounding areas are not packed with refugees afterwards nor have they closed surrounding areas for that reason. Who knows with this government, maybe they will get a PETA discount!

did already. apparently there're called "hooves" not feet
"A horse hoof is a structure surrounding the distal phalanx of the 3rd digit (digit III of the basic pentadactyl limb of vertebrates, evolved into a single weight-bearing digit in equids) of each of the four limbs of Equus species, which is covered by complex soft tissue and keratinised (cornified) structures"

"noun, plural hoofs or hooves for 1, 2, 4; hoof for 3"
interesting that for 3, its hoof. weird. no mention of feet though,
