Spinning reel under $100
I've got some cabelas gift cards left over from Christmas and figure I could use a new reel.
Will be used on my larger heavier rods for pike and walleye out of a boat.
Must be spinning reel and around $100 and obviously available at cabelas.

Quantum Throttle
I believe they’re $80 regular, leaves you some money to get some line on it too

Pflueger President($90 on sale for $70 at the moment) or Shimano Sedona($100). I haven't looked at the new Sedona's yet but they got a bunch of upgrades this year and I imagine they are pretty decent reels now.
Presidents are one of the best bang for your buck reels available. A long time favourite by many anglers.

As Rayvak said, the Pfleuger President is for sure the way to go. I'd probably go with a size 35 if you're looking to use it for both pike and walleye.

Can’t go wrong with a President. Keep an eye out for a President XT if they go on sale.

I've always been a fan of Shimano, been using the same one for about 8 years now. Think I paid around $50.00.

Make it easy, get a Shimano Sedona. I like them just as much as my Stradic and Sustain.

Enjoy, for sure one of the best reels in its price range. I have a couple Shimano Sahara's that cost a bit more and the Presidents are holding up far better over time. I have a 25 that I use on an ice rod, and both my kids use the 30 size for everything from little trout to big pike.
IMO the 30 is the best all around size and nearly ideal for walleye. For a dedicated pike rod I might pick a 35 or 40 but that's just cause I prefer mono. If you use braid IMO the extra size is of little value.

The new Shimano Sedona FI is a great reel if you have to keep it under $100.
My suggestion would be the new Sahara FI or the NASCI though. Both models get you into the XShip technology which is worth every penny when it comes to smooth performance and durability, and the NASCI has an improved drag system as well. If you view buying a reel as a long term investment into a quality product you'll enjoy using for many years, the extra $20-40 is not a major increase in up front cost, and it will pay for itself and then some.

Another vote for the Sahara/nasci. You get some of the top end technology at the $100 ish price point. Super smooth, cast a mile, great drag, good feel. Go give em a spin and see what you think.

Thanks guys. I'll have to put my hands on a few of the ones mentioned and see what feels good but the president was on the list.

I have a few Pflueger reels and I do really like them, but if I am a huge proponent of anything Shimano. They make the best reels, hands down.

The Daiwa RG-AB would be a good choice too. I bought one for my wife last year and she loves it. Easy to use and she likes the looks whcih is important for her but maybe not so much for you.

Lots of nice reels out there but when it comes to bearings and smooth, Shimano is the one........ especially for spinning reels.

I agree that Shimano makes some great reels, but I have not been very impressed by their offerings under $100. I currently have two Saharas that are only a few seasons old and are starting to feel pretty sloppy and worn out. I've wore out at least a half dozen Sedona, Side Stab and Solstace reels in about that time frame in the past, I guess I'm a slow learner.
IMO Shimano is worth considering if you're looking to spend big bucks but I wont recommend their cheaper products. I've had far better luck with Pflueger and Daiwa.

Keep your eyes open for deals in the fall. I’ve picked up Pfleuger Supreme XTs for $100 and last year I got a Stradic CI4+ for $110. My son bought a Abu Garcia Revo STX from Cabelas for $65 last winter.
All good reels and all within your price range.

Picked up the pfleuger president 35 at cabelas today. Customer appreciation 20% off so I grabbed a new 6'6" medium ugly stick too. Came in just over $120 total.

Great rig, I had that exact combo for many years. It made a great pike/ river rod. I eventually killed the reel but still have the rod, it now wears a vintage Mitchell 300 and still lands plenty of walleye, pike, and goldeye every season.
I think I got 6 hard seasons out of the President, and the Ugly stick has been hauling in big fish for over 15 years now... the Mitchell was made in the early 50's and seems to be virtually un-killable.
