Default Skunks in crown land

This year for the first time ever we saw skunks in 353. Not one but three. Not fringe land but deep in crown land. The pic is of a deer gut pile and the skunk would defend the pile when we would approach. It would walk towards you ready to defend its food.

Later we were thinking what would happen if it got to camp inside the wall tent.

Now instead of worrying about bears, I guess we need to be Leary of shunks. I guess on the bright side we would have good scent cover

Has anyone else observed the skunk invasion ?

Skunks have little to no fear, and can be nasty. Ive seen more skunks this fall as well. 316, 412. They were all headed a different directions than i. I usually just wait for them to finish what they are interested in then they move on.

I suspect some of those on crown land are relocated from more settled areas.

Had a lady around here, was dumping all her catches in the Nitchy Valley.

I've seen a few skunks deep in 353 before. Hunting buddy had one come right at him while on the woodland throne lol.

Just make sure it's a suitable location.

We just trapped 6 in 4 days, another trapper dropped off 2 so brought home 8 hides. We are in WMU521 just north of Little Smoky and WMU 353. The 2 in the picture were the biggest, I saw skunk in the night when I'd go out for a pee. We got 4 at the cabin and 2 about 400m away. Sunday morning the traps were empty so we are having an impact on the population, even if temporary.
