Okay You Wainwright Vets.......
Okay, you guys who have been there a couple times, feel like giving up some tips?
Hunter friendly hotels---
Places to store your harvest---
Good resaurants/pubs---
Any tips would be appreciated, and I thank you in advance, as we have not hunted the base, and the more heads up we can get with some things the better. If anybody else wants to ask any more questions, feel free.

Didn't try it, but the R & R looks good (I'll be going there next time). As for food, Boston Pizza was good in the evenings and for breakfast there was a gas station with a diner just the other side of the Bison Inn (Next door to Boston Pizza).........lol

I always stay at the Bison Motel...it's no 5 star but the price is right. BP is the only place I've eaten too. We just keep our deer in the back of the truck. You won't be the only guy at the hotel...lol Book early though!

Thanx TJ, and elnino. I was wondering about the deer in the back of the truck thing. Bison Motel eh, might have to check it out, and book our rooms up.

I booked at the Bison motel on July 14th last year......I also booked another room just in case. The week before the hunt, I called and confirmed the Bison room. They confirmed it and gave me a number. I cancelled my backup option so I didnt end up paying for it.
Showed up at the Bison, they were full. My name was on the top of the list and they gave my room away to a rig worker. I was steaming mad...fuming. I pretty much had to sit there and tell them I was going to sleep in the motel lobby unless they found me a room. They called around and got me a room in another hotel....nice place as well down the road. Anyways...I was ****ed that happened....lol. '
Lots of good pubs/restaurants in town.....not sure which ones are the popular ones but we had good results at all of em...

Thanx.

We stayed at a good hotel, it had a bar and a restaurant in it. Perhaps Trev could remind you of the name.
We had a good time in that place.

I got my first caping lesson at the Bison Motel, I think dad has stayed there since 1969 when hunting Wainwright. We ate breakfest at the base the last time we were there, can't remember the name of the steak house, that was always a good place to eat.

Hmmm, oh well, we'll see what tomorrow brings, I guess.
Dark wing, breakfast at the base????? What is that all about, do they have a public mess hall, or something seperate?
Thanx again guys, really appreciate it.

They had the cafeteria opened up for hunters in the morning, I'm not sure if they still do that. If not the Husky was our second pick.

Cool, thanx DW. I will ask my cousin, who is based there, if he could dig any info up that could help, even though he isn't a hunter, he may know someone who knows.

When we pull tags next year, were talking about taking a covered trailer. Should work good for keeping meat out of the back of the truck, and it can be hung in quarters ready to go. Nothing worse than a frozen whole deer in the back of the truck...
keep a strain on er.
