Nice Zip. I'm looking forwards to the weekend ice update, thanks for that!
I'm a big maybe for checking out Pigeon on Saturday. If I do I will report back.

Zip, great job on the report. Those are scary ice conditions on Sylvan. Not something I have an interest in chancing for sure so thanks for that.
Gull sounds like it is alright. I think I'll be out there next weekend. Hopefully not too much flood water.
Pigeon has 6 inches. Found some ice ridges where the two parts separated and paper thin ice in between. It is visible for those that know what to look for. Hopefully someone doesn't drive a skidoo or quad over these areas. Otherwise it is forming nicely and should be good to for skidoos in a couple of weeks. Some skidoo tracks near shore but didn't look like they ventured out which is smart. Moron drove a truck on at Johnsonia ...within 30 feet of shore where there is little water but still a dumb move. The group had a 2 wheel quad out.
It is going to be a slow start this year.

Scott did all the heavy lifting/hauling/drilling today .... that acknowledged, he told me to go first & test the ice, the steel spud bar was my/our insurance policy, we backed up and took a wider path to get out on Sunbreaker, we both felt the ice cracking and sinking a few times, we agreed we won't be fishin this area in the next 2 weeks. We plan to try the Norglenwold or RR23 on opening day, then Gull later in the week.

See ...

Mr. Happy .... there are a number of these ice heave's on Sylvan that would swallow up that new shed, perhaps reconsider Brownlows or suggest you relax in P.V. for a bit ... we need more cold temps.

I always wait till I see the zamboni out on the lake before I take my truck. Feel pretty good if a zamboni is out there first.

We are heading to sylvan to norglenwold in morning7:30 - 8am, can someone tell me where to get maggots and mealworms in the morning near there as we cannot get bait yet in Sundre (Can you believe it?) we will be coming from Sundre but we are going to hit Mcd's in sylvan. Any suggestions?

On the way home this afternoon, noticed someone was out earlier on a snowmobile along the townsite shoreline and from the east side of the pier drove across the lake directly towards the Norglenwold lake access road.
Looks like he/she made it across, however, the tracks on a number of different locations were filled with flood water, proceed with caution.
Scott & I, still plan to be out on Sylvan tomorrow, stay tuned.
Skawtty ... you could try the GTI Gas Stn Conv. store when you come into Sylvan on Hwy 11A just past the traffic circle, past the ESSO across from the Petro Canada, they were expecting some live bait, but don't know if it came in or not.
Be careful tomorrow or this could be you.

My gear is packed, lunch made, 3 rods ready to go, plan to give the Calgary Stampeders G-Cup Champs Black/Red W/W first shot at a White, I'm optimistic it will produce by 9:00 am, otherwise it's back in the box!
I'm sure there's a few Calgary fans that would take the bet.
Wish all those who get out tomorrow ... all the best.
Enjoy
D.

Opening Day - Half Time Results
Calgary G-Cup champs colors scored within 10 minutes of the starting (8:00 a.m.) and scored a second TD .... 5 minutes later. Then had some action with the Brown & Green Glow Bead, but no hook ups. Scott scored the 3rd on Yellow/Brown wrap W/W.
Our Sundre buddies joined us this morning, fishin with 3 Scott's ... , when I yell Scott one's going your way, they all get quiet/serious.
A few pic's so far ....

Yes it was nice to meet up with zz and bwack. Caught a small perch but whites are being elusive. Have a video of them kissing my hook but can't post it. The whites that is. Lol

Mr. Moose ... Yes I've caught a number of Perch on W/W's they like the Yellow/Orange Candy Cane twist version, I've been fortunate to catch every fresh water species swimin around in both Gull & Sylvan. Caught a Burbot on a bright Yellow\Green W/W with no bait. Hungry fish will take advantage of an easy meal, this afternoon Scott had a very large Pike (15-17 lbs) come in and stare at his W/W, that would of been fun on 6lb floro, but it vamoosed.
Cheers
David.

We enjoyed your company today, too bad the afternoon was so slow, hope things improve if you return tomorrow.
Hope you can figure out how to upload that video, others here would get a kick of your kissy-kissy Whitefish.
Cheers
David

This afternoon, I had to go see the Tooth Fairy and got my crown installed on a dental implant, what a long & expensive process.
When I returned the guys had a few stories but no fish on ice, we kept drilling and moving around seen a few Whites & the big Pike but they lost interest in the Calgary G-Cup colors switched up a couple of times but nothing worked. No fish were caught in the afternoon and we didn't see much moving around from 3:00 to just after 4:00 .... we decided to call it a day.
The Mrs will be enjoying a fresh fish dinner tonight.
Tomorrow I may try Gull or perhaps RR23 on Sylvan.

Skawtty ... of course, but I left one so she could find it. She also said Chardonnay goes good with Whitefish, me thinks Chardonnay goes good with just about everything.

Brent.till ... we walked out at Sandy Point on Dec 08th as the gate was locked, laser'd 200 yds to the shoreline, lots of snow, ice was 7" a mix of black & white surface with flood water coming up/out the hole.
Mr Snap .... tks we thought it was going to be a hot morning/day with all the activity within the first 1/2 hour or so, then it progressively slowed down. We all had our opportunities but just couldn't get a good hook up, very frustrating. The one's I cleaned were all Males, we seen some bigger fish, perhaps females, but they sure were shy.
Note: I made up a few more Calgary Red/Black tonight and a new prototype to field test tomorrow, Hot Pink/Black the pic doesn't do it any justice and the wrap isn't my best work. This combo will be my first line tomorrow, will update accordingly.
