Normal ice rods work fine for lakers. Caught my 43 incher on a normal ice rod in a jaw jacker. Just look for a good fiberglass rod with decent backbone and some flex.

It actually outfished me today on wabamun, that’s the only way I was able to catch anything the fish were very camera shy today in multiple spots.

If a jawjacker is the only way some of you can catch fish(as said by many) maybe fishing is not for you!

JawJackers work great with balanced woolyoldbuggers hanging below them. Some people call them ice flies. Scuds, nymphs, beetles and many other patterns work well too on bait ban lakes.
Fishing is about enjoying the great outdoors and having fun. However you get it done! As long as you're having a better day than you would have had at work you must be doing something right. Don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise. Keep on JawJacking!

For a guy who takes the ideas and techniques of others then posts them and records them as his own im not surprised by your opposition to my comment. Your videos demonstrate your desperation to plug companies such as Jaw Jacker in attempt to get sponsership and legitimize yourself. Im not against tip ups or jawjackers. I stand behind what i said if the ONLY way you can catch fish is by having a devicecdo it for you, maybe fishing isnt for you!

Some people even use rods with reels! OMG! Draw a line in the sand where you want but unless you noodle all your fish I suspect you are using a "device" to catch them.

Lighten up guys------a fisherperson is just that. How you do it does not matter as long as it is legal.

Thoughts?

You can land a record book laker with a MH 3ft ice rod ...... no worries .... they are designed for fighting fish not casting.
Not sure what advantage a longer rod gives you through the ice but I can think of many disadvantages.

I think he likes to make content we can all enjoy watching. He's a travelling doctor that likes to entertain the local community with a shared hobby we all have. Many of us enjoy fishing with tools like tip ups and flashers to help us land a fish. Just because someone comments about having a hard time catching a fish sometimes doesn't mean they should retire from it. To each there own.

Hit the road fella. The only person trying to legitimize themselves is you. Attacking a well meaning person that gives people the time of day isn't a great way to give yourself props.
Pump your tires somewhere else.

Saying your jawjacker outfished you, isn’t meant to be taken serious. If your tip-up or JJ is getting more bites, then obviously it’s the location or action (dead-stick vs jigging).
It’s hilarious someone would attempt to insult someone else based on that.
JJ’s are great, yet I’ve lost a good rod/reel from not noticing my line was wrapped around either the rod tip or the JJ’s loop. I was 2 steps on my way when I watched the JJ bounce, land upside down and my rod get sucked down the hole.
Now I use my cheaper rods in them, and take a sec to check the line.

I just hope people remember this stuff, and the next time he's looking for help on whatever a "transduser" is, or has any other requests, he gets ignored like he deserves. Every time I start enjoying this board again, jerks like that guy remind me why I mostly lurk.

This tread went sideways in a hurry
I am going to Zips tread and enjoy nice posts from Sylvan and Gull, pictures and polite respectful comments by fellow fisherman

I heard the Tackle Shack has them for $115, don't quote me on it just something I heard.
I picked up three going to give them a try this week. Wish I could use two lines in BC. Might have to just set one up for a bit and see what happens if the kids don't want to come. If they come I can pop a couple in for them.

Jaw jacker
A harmless off the cuff comment gets you guys riled up pretty quick eh. If we were all talking at a fishing store or coffee shop my comment would have got a laugh. If you say the ONLY way you can do something is by not doing it then you open yourself up to a ribbing. Im not against any method of fishing i use the automatic fisherman. I almost bought a jaw jacker this weekend. S.ue a lot of defensive uptight people here who look to make trouble where none exists. Grow up people and learn to read the intent and not hear things in your head as negative all the time Geez!

Yes because this comment would do well between a couple guys sitting at a coffee shop. I joke about my friends not being able to fish all the time and its a good chuckle. But if you told me i 'm desperate to plug companies such as jaw jackers. Just to legitimize myself in order to get sponsership. You're the J@ck@ss and comments like this is uncalled for.

28" medium rod ... spool up with 6 lb maxima ultra green ... Drop shot the smallest minnows you can find those tiny salted minnows from the fishin hole with a Gamakatsu size 8 hook...Set that trigger extremely light .
Jig a flashy spoon near by the JJ hole you set up they will come in to the action and then attack the easy meal...
