6.5 Creedmore loads
Ok....I have taken the plunge. I have a 6.5CM. Please don't judge me.
I have a 6.5x47L and have a couple of great nodes for the 139gr Scenar. All with the small rifle primer, btw. And I've taken it out to the mile.
Now, it's time to develop a load for the Creedmore round. Here's the particulars...
Brass: Lapua (with small primer pockets)
Bullets: 136gr Lapua Scenar-L
Primers: CCI BR4
Powder: Varget
The rifle will be a secret for now. But it has a 25" heavy contour 1:8" twist barrel. So the speeds should be decent with the 136gr pill.
Anyone want to volunteer some loads with similar particulars? I have not seen many with the 136gr bullets.

I haven't Used any 136 Scenars yet so can’t really be much help .
I can tell you that my 6.5 Freddy Mercury shoots very well with every weight of bullet I have tried in it , as good as my other 6.5 rifles I have owned .
I have been using Varget , 4350 and 4895.

I have had good success with H4350, and R-17, but no experience with Varget.

I have gotten confirmation that my line of thinking on this is sound. I will start at 36 grains of Varget and work up. And the consensus seems to be to work with the 140gr data. That will leave some wiggle room with the 136gr pill.

That seems like a pretty light load? Think i was in the 41g range with 139 scenars.

If you have some Hodgdon H-V100, try 41.8 gr for about 53000 psi and 2770 MV with that bullet. 2.800 oal /26 " bbl

HAHA!
I figured with all the gay and ***** comments and off colour memes and names like “*****more”, “ squealmore” etc,out there from people regarding rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and anyone owning one , I figured the only thing to do was to name my rebarrrled Palma match rifle “Freddy Mercury”
Seems to fit - it’s a bit strange but can it ever sing! LMAO!!

Well in my x47, I shoot the 139gr Scenars. My OCW with Varget is 37.8gr and gives me sub .3moa results with average speeds of 2905fps out of a 26" barrel.
With the Creedmore case and a similar barrel, I believe the starting point is around 36gr of Varget (with the 136gr Scenar). Remember that my lot of Lapua brass has the small primer pockets and I'm using CCI BR4's. (Just like the x47.)
Safety is always a consideration too. So, we'll see how it goes. But I don't think a starting point if 36gr is "light". And like I said above, with the lighter bullet, there will be some wiggle room at the higher end of charge weights and ultimately pressures.

I like the name! Again....don't judge me because I now have a CM. I've shot the x47 round for quite some time, and kind of fell into a Creedmore rifle.
I am looking forward to it, just like I did with the Lapua round. But seeing all the hate for the CM round on the internet leaves one with trepidation about asking publicly for advice.

Varget with 140's ,H4350 with 143 gr.
That's double E's,double O's with two R's, one before and one after.

It’s actually one of the reasons I chose that cartridge over the x47 , Swede, 260 etc all of which I have owned before and all were accurate . After all , it’s far more about the bullet than the cartridge when a 6.5 bullet exits the barrel at a given velocity !

6.5 Creedmore loads
No experience with the Scenars. I have mucked around with 129gr LRAccubond and 143gr ELDX, combined with Varget, RL17, IMR4350 and H4350.
My best accuracy results were with the 143gr ELDX over H4350 (Petersen large primer brass, Fed 210M primers).
I did notice that the ES and SD values with the combo of 129LRAccubond and Varget were VERY low. Strangely, the accuracy was fair to poor (1.5moa). Also, I found the velocity to be pretty slow with Varget.
I shoot a Finnlight with a 24” inch K&S Arms custom barrel.
I don’t really understand the stigma with the 6.5CM. Both of the extremes in people’s reactions to it are childish and overblown. It does make for fun arguments though.
I don’t think that it revolutionizes the centrefire rifle market, but those 6.5 bullets sure are slippery.

I am waiting on dies for my Creedmore......143X bullets in both my .260 and 6.5x55mm Give outstanding results better then the match bullet...
Also remember the Lapua bullets maybe slightly smaller diameter then most? North American bullets, at least in my 6mmBR this was the case.

Another reason for me buying the Creedmoor barrel was the fact that I bought dies , brass and bullets right off the shelf at my local Canadian Tire as well they have many different weights and brands of factory 6.5 Creedmoor Ammo in stock!

I really wanted a 260rem, because I already had dies and cases,. but since I couldn't find a stainless T-3 CTR in 260rem in Canada, I settled for a 6.5CM.

Good supply here at our local gun shop as well...Kinda like the 30-06 of the 6.5 world.
