Cz 527 carbine
Recently purchased a CZ 527 carbine chambered in 7.62x39. Planning on using it for close up coyotes and sub 150 yard whitetail. Just wondering if anyone else is using the same and what is your bullet preference. Thanks!

Cz in 7.62x39. I use Barnaul ammo it shoots well hollow point , fmj and soft point although the soft point hunting ammo is expensive. I bought Chinese new ammo I forget the name but it wouldn’t shoot straight, like gross

Thanks for the replies everyone, looking into getting reloading components and it looks like CFE BLK with 123 grain SST's is where I will start. and I'll pick up some Barnul to plink with.

Have really been wanting one of these rifles.
Also looked at the zastava and the savage.
Maybe one day. I did handle a CZ 527 In a store once. Just feels good and looks like great quality. Would love to have one and 2 mags and a crate of ammo for plinking. Forever... lol.
It does have merits as a deer gun inside 200. I’d try the sst offering.

I've been wanting one for ages as well for the reasons you mentioned. I'm a sucker for Mauser actions and this Micro-Mauser got to me lol looked at Zastava as well as Norinco but I think the extra $ for the CZ is forth it... I did, however, have to take down some rough spots in the action with some Emory cloth.

lol true. must of mine was in the channel that guides the extractor spring, just took a popsicle stick wrapped in high grit sandpaper and ran it through a few times being careful not to get grit where it shouldn't be... made a huge difference.

loads
Shot lots of deer with mine 25.5gr/H4198 was best with the 123gr Hornady or PRIVI. mag primer tightened group to just under 1/2".Sierra 150gr .311 shot equally as well with 29gr of H-335. Lots of Hornady data.

accuracy
It will shoot MOA with anything but just switching to magnum primers ,it ripped cloverleaves to 1/2" groups so I didn't argue.RE#7 ,Win 748 and IMR 4198 are suitable as well.I load a 90gr cast Lee Tokarev bullet with Bullseye for chickens.I have some Cam-Pro .311 71gr .32ACP bullets I will work out a load for small game.

You may be surprised to learn that .308 dia bullets shoot fine as well.Hornady dies come with two expander buttons as the mini30 is .308 groove.Failing that after depriming the cases, remove the expander plug and priming stem then FL size the case again. Now you will be able to seat the slightly smaller .308 bullets.

LOL !!! I have the same CZ 527 but in 6.5 Grendel. It's a little on the rough side also, but I'm betting that will all settle down once I cycle the bolt a thousand or so times.... I REALLY, REALLY like the size of these "micro mausers" and think that it fits this size of cartridge perfectly. I've laid my CZ down beside my 50's BSA .222 and they are amazingly close in just about every aspect.....except workmanship. The BSA's blueing is perfect, the bolt is SMOOTH, and the woodwork is first rate. The CZ is a modern equivalent that shoots great but is not near as refined.

Good to know, the selection of .303 is rather bleak. Just ordered a lee collet die set, picking up full length dies soon.

If getting the FL dies I'd go Hornady for this caliber.

CZ 527 Ebony Edition, does anyone have? Anything good or bad to say about it? Went to buy a CZ 455 in .22 and then saw that in .223 for $799. Left the store empty handed. I don’t have a .223, but not sure I need one.
