Default Muskie or Pike?

I was out at Garner Lake in NB1 with a buddy of mine on the July long weekend. We caught more pike that could be imagined and then this funny looking specimen. We thought that it could be a muskie or even a pike/muskie cross. I've seen some strange pike with skin patterns but nothing that resembled another fish...somewhat. I've seen pics of muskie with similar tiger striping on the back. What do you think? Muskie or pike? Place your vote. Thanks!!!

It is very likely just a mutation,I remember seeing pictures a few years ago of a albino pike taken in ontario with a beige body. Its a genetic thing...Very cool looking though.

I believe the Fish and Wildlife office in Edmonton has a mount that shows some of the variations that you get in Northern pike. The one in your picture looks alot like one of them.

Looks like a Tiger muskie

Tiger Muskie

Tiger Muskie

Tiger Muskie

But Alberta is too cold in the winter for Muskie to survive here so I would have to agree just a striped phase of pike.
