Default Newbie in Edmonton

Hey all,

I have recently moved to Edmonton from the UK and am looking to get out and do some fishing this summer.

I have fished for most of my life back home and decided the other day to treat myself to some spinning/jigging gear.

I am after some advice regarding places to go out at the moment - it seems on research that there are a lot of factors in Alberta that I haven't had to consider in the past (stocking reports, winter kill etc.)

I would like to get out at the weekend, not really too fussed about species or size - just be good to get a little action first time out somewhere near the city

Thanks in advance!

At this time, you are limited to trout ponds and the North Saskatchewan River.
The river is high and dirty right now with visibility down to an inch or two. So bait and wait is your only option on the river.
Go to Canadian tire and pick up a copy of Alberta fishing guide to get you started. It has the ponds, lakes and rivers with directions and species in the water.
