Default Looking for any easy Calgary fishing (carp?)

Been trying my hand at fishing the Bow River lately with little to no luck. Needless to say, I'm feeling discouraged and wouldn't mind going anywhere close to Calgary where I can catch literally anything relatively easily.

I was unaware of the crazy carp issue in Alberta and it seems like finding a pond or stormwater drainage pool full of them could help me get my fix. Not looking for a trophy fish, just any fish, don't even care if they're 6 inches long

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Been too long since I've felt a bite.

just be aware that some of the bodies of waters that have the carp like storm water drain off's are off limits according to city bylaws. i'm not sure why,

Good to know. Are they in most of the stormwater ponds in the city? I'm surprised I've never heard of them taking over Alberta.

Currently trying to fish dewitt’s pond for carp using corn. No luck so far. Anybody have any idea about the depth at Dewitt’s?

i was there two days ago and nothing either because the ACA? i think did a whole seine netting for them i think last year or the year before. if you are fishing dewitts when they are visually visible you need to down size a whole lot and close to shore. when the red deer river opens there are tons in there

The middle is in the 15' - 20' range.

As for the carp; I spoke to a guy last year and he was using a long 10' - 15' pole to reach out and for bait, he was using a bread doe and garlic heavily mixed in.

The hook was a small snelled and the size of the rolled up bait, was about the size of a HB pencil eraser.

He was pulling them in hand over fist.

Thanks for the replies. Out in BC right now so might try my hand at some okanagan bass fishing. But once I get back I’ll have to give these things a try!

The okanagan has lots of Common Carp to 15lbs or so, walk the penticton canal with polarized glasses
