Default Gunsmith cutting groves in barrel

Who would do a quality job of cutting grooves in barrel so one could mount a scope on it? Around red deer preferably...

One more vote for D. Henry This comment sounds like B.S., he NEVER had a website that I ever knew of.

You may find it cheaper and easier to just have the gun drilled and tapped for bases.

Dave Henry doesn’t use that phone number anymore.

Just PM him and he will give you contact info.

Here's where the 'permanently closed' comment may have come from. You'll get this if you google 'D Henry Gunmakers Bentley'. Other searches may provide the same result.
Hunter Guy was providing info that is available online. Don't think he was trying to cause trouble.

I first used David Henry many years ago when he had a storefront in Bentley. After he had a break-in, he closed the storefront. I am quite sure that I found him all those years ago via his website. IIRC he also had a small retail section.

Good gunsmith, by the way.

The ban hammer may have been dropped for reasons other than his posting .
Unless a person is a moderator that gives the inside info ,we will never know

I’m wondering if there is a more simplistic and cost effective way of mounting the scope ?

I am with Chris on this idea of cutting dovetail slots in the receiver for your scope mounting. It makes more sense to drill and tap 4 holes for weaver style bases than to set up for a fussy milling machine operation that limits to a certain degree what ring options you will have available to you.
Now to clear up this web site and contact information question, I am not a site sponsor on the A.O. forum and as such do not feel it appropriate to be promoting my business interests by advertising my services or accessibility. As previously mentioned by other members who posted on this topic, I can be reached via a private message. I no longer have the old 3030 phone number or Web site. Thank you, D.H.
