Was out there today. Filled our 6 medium tags. Lots of fish but biggest was about 53cm. There were hardly any boats on the lake and the weather was awesome.

Default What are the walley liking today?

I am out on the water tomorrow about 9 am also with a buddy. We have minnows and leeches. Any suggestions about where, or how deep?

Best regards,

Sheep - Samething tonight. Not a soul out there. Its been that all year. The number of fishermen on the weekends is way down from previous years. The only time it is busy is Saturday & Sunday afternoons. We must have hit a little bigger pocket of fish than you. Most were 50 cm +. One 55cm. Hopefully I can get my ass out of bed in the morning and hit the water again.

JR - Will do.

300 Ultra - 17 -19 feet of water, use minnows and jigs.

JR - I fished a couple miles east of you first thing in the morning. I was gone before you were on the water. I had to be back for an auction sale close to home. Tonight I ended up taking my canoe to a tiny little lake 15 mins west of Pigeon. I brought home enough perch for a nice meal.

Just got back from a week at Pigeon Lake. JR I was fishing 50 feet away from you yesterday in a blue and white Crestliner with a Nissan motor. I thought the handle of your boat rang a bell. What a walleye fishery. Had the best luck on the point by Grandview but did check out most of the lake as well. I don't know if there is a bad place to fish at Pigeon as most parts of the lake seem to hold some walleyes. Eazy to get spoiled there.

Is there a boat launch closer to grandview, other than the Prov.launch

Your right I used to have that handle Homewreaker
and if I don't stop fishing for a few weeks ends I will be Homeless !

It was out front of the Provincial park. Two of us were in the boat. I think you and the young guy with you spent more time on the phone than fishing.

The Pigeon Lake walleye liked them but the chartreuse/orange was tough to beat.

Default It was great

Pigeon was great. We must have caught 130 fish in about 6 hours on the water. We did manage 1 a piece that we tagged in the over 50 category. We found that minnow on jigs worked great, but I have to tell you I got hits on clean jigs too. I also used some white tube 'exude' tube baits that look kinda like squid and they were hammered as hard as the minnows. I found about 30% of strikes I got were as the bait was lowers in an arc from a cast of about 30 years. And we were in about 20' of water.

It was non stop all the time we were on the water.

A great day walley fishin'

Ya that is a pretty good day. I haven't had any like that this year.
I remember a couple years back me and two buddies caught 383 Walleye and 3 Jacks all before noon.
I guess one day I will be able to tell my grandkids, There was this one time......

Isn't that the idea of all new colours...lol

I must say that we had better luck with the chartruese/orange combinations and green/glow was hot but the new colours did work.

i currently do not have any of the new colors, but my all time go to color is orange, if that dont work, yellow, then its off to the two tones.

Ive been hooked more myself on lures in the store, than ive ever caught fish in a lake with if that makes sense, LOL. im a impulse pretty fishing lure buyer

Me and a friend took the kids out to Mulhurst bay last week and went east to what looked like a water skiing course in 10-12 ft water. The kids were so busy catching we never got in a lot of fishing but they had fun. Caught 80-90 walleye and one jack on yellow and pink jigs with leeches. That lake rocks!!

Don't want to high jack the thread but a quick question for you guys at Pigeon. How quickly does the tag have to be attatched. Is there a problem leaving the fish untagged on the stringer throughout the day. Somehow I don't think the tags are water proof but you never know what a CO will hassle you over?

Went out to Pigeon today and we filled all of our tags. Believe it or not we had to work to fill the 43-50 cm range slot because the majority were between 50 and 55 and we only had 2 tags for those. Great fun, Probably caught about 30 fish between 3 guys in about 1.5 hours.

We got really lucky with our six fish...all of them were between 49 and 50cm....you can't be much more efficient than that ....lol

Default Qestions

What about camping around there, heading out for a week with the fam, if there is a good camp ground with showers, power, and playground we might check it out? Also are there undersubscribed tags like hunting for the fish draw there? Guess I should chech the regs but thought someone might be able to help me out.
Thanks Guys!

Sadly the undersubscribed tags were only available for a short period of time and are no longer available. Not sure why they didn't make them available until they were all gone but apparently there was some conflict with the computer system and the hunting draws. I suspect you'll see some changes next year.

Thanks for the info sheep! I took my own advise and looked at the regs on-line, and see it closes fairly early. I think leaving it open like the hunting draws would make more sence and help to get the harvest level closer to where the gov thinks it should be. Oh well there is always next year! And with 4 kids, 2 or 3 that can fish, we should be able to get a good feed or 2 of walleye. Just need to plan better for next year and I may still head that way for a week of camping and a bit of fishing with the kids its a blast to see them catch something!!
