Green jig and minnow always worked well for me at pigeon. Good luck. Wife and I might be going to Calling.

Anybody been up to any lakes towards GP, Valleyview or Peace River? I figure farther north should have some good ice by now.

Nice! When I'm on a Walleye bite, I stick to a Rattle bait on my active stick and a pink Reel Bait flasher jig with a willow leaf and a saltie... Usually works. But lord knows every lake is different. We're just CnR... Never keep... Just want to catch trophies. Excited to hit the ice for the first time!

Man you are right about every lake is different. Always like jig heads for years for walleye. When it comes to perch my tackle box is crazy. Have a addiction every time I go to a fishing store I drop another 50 or so. Wife thinks I’m nuts 😁

Ha ha I need to find a good perch lake. Back in MB, we used to catch em by the hundreds at our family cottage... My wife, from Cgy, has never caught a perch. I'm determined to get her on a bite eventually... It's fun for something different....

Good stuff. We might head out to Swan or Spring today or tomorrow. I'll report back if we do.

Couple posts up from yours. There is a report. 8 inches in shallow bays.
Post an update when you get back from fishing, if you don’t mind.

Well I'm out on Pigeon right now. Straight out from the launch. Have seen fish on camera at 8fow, nothing at 12 and so far nothing at 22 fow. Tons of forage but no fish on the ice. Tons of ice. Funny enough, ice is thicker at 22fow than it is at 8fow. I'm about 12 or 13" of ice at 23fow. Slow day tho....

Hey guy. Sorry to hear that but I bet it was a fun day out. Nothing like being out on the ice.

Went out to Long Island and Cross lakes yesterday. Long Island had about 6" and Cross Lake had even more than that. Found some frozen crust while walking close to the shore that had water underneath it though, so I walked straight out from the boat launch instead. Long Island was good for pike, skunked at Cross.

On buffalo today. Between 2 of us, 14 pike (biggest 35”)
One burb. 5 or 6 pounds and 30”
Ice was enough for walking and people sledding.
