Hi folks,
My wife and I are new residents to the Edmonton area. I spend my summers chasing trout with fly rod in Southern Alberta and cannot wait to explore west of Edmonton this summer.
However I'm getting the inevitable itch to try ice fishing again. I did a bit as a kid when I lived in Saskatchewan but haven't been in a long time.
We've got some equipment rented for the Dec. 24th to dip our toes in water (hopefully not literally
)
I'm a bit overwhelmed with the number of choices around the area, but we are mostly looking for some fish we may be able to keep (whites, perch, pike or even trout!). I was hoping someone might point us in the right direction as we would be walking in with a sled in tow. I don't have a tonne of gear tackle but have a large amount of flies, but if there are suggestions for things to go pick up that would be fantastic! Safety is also a good factor as we are not experienced with going out on the ice
.
Cheers
