600HP V12 Outboard? Why not!
https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/.../verado-600hp/
Mercury just launched a 600HP V12 outboard.
I don't even think that's the biggest news, the new motor has a totally redesigned 2 SPEED gearcase, and totally new steering mechanism.
That could be a HUGE step forward if that technology trickles down to their lower HP lineup.
I can't wait to see where it all goes in the future, but in the meantime, I wouldn't mind strapping one of those 600s onto a new Warrior 238.

1260 lb weight...
I am hoping that some of the tech trickles down to lower HP models as well. Imagine a fixed outboard where the gearcase is what moves. So much easier to add accessories to the transom (shallow water anchors, MinnKota Vantage, etc). The two speed gearcase should help with top speeds and fuel efficiency as well.

Only the gearcase moves? That is very cool indeed.

Double that and you'll be in the ballpark would be my guess.

You're right. Pricey son of a guns!

Fuses, fluids, filters etc are all on top. Makes things a whole bunch easier to maintain. Neat.

That's actually even more than I thought it would be.
I was thinking about $80K CDN, that's closer to $100K CDN.

Ahhhh....now I know why Evinrude shut down the Outboard line and teamed with Mercury....that Merc is VERY "RUDE" looking...take the 2 best outboards and mash i to one! Cant wait to see how it tests out!

Oh come on friend. You have to agree the cool factor is pretty high with this motor? The concept is brand new and neat, I think...Heck, a guy can hurt himself on an inner tube

Merc's 600 hp, V12 outboard
No doubt that's a pretty impressive engine, I'm curious to know if any of these new boat engines come with OBD II? It's old technology in autos, can't say I've seen it or heard it being advertised in the marine setting.

boating performance, is all about power to weight,
a 600hp outboard, will be much lighter than 3x 200hp,
See plenty of offshore racing boats with 3-4 big 200-300hp engines,
Not much call for one in Alberta,
I sure like to go for a rip in a big power boat one day, a performance jet boat is more my style,

I am holding out for the tiller version. Should get the 1800 Alaskan down the lake fairly fast.

Oh to have pockets deep enough for a boat that needed a few of these across the transom. Probably not in my lifetime. Sweet outboard though.
