I pulled that one up about 5mins after you guys walked off. Was good to meet your guys. Should see if ya can come out another weekend, and get a good haul. The rest of the day we were there kinda sucked tho. I had just pulled it out of the hole and the hook let go and it slid back down the hole and i just dove right in and got it just at the bottom of the ice, so i was about elbow deep down. My gloves, coat and sweater were soaked, I had a towel with me, but it didn't too much for drying or warmth. It was a fuc day out either way.

Cheers,
Alex

I'm a thinkin' they would be irresistible to variete "Esox lucius" and "Sander vitreus" !

I think that might be a GREAT way to deal with stunted Perch, but would that be legal ?

2008 Regulations quoted... "Parts of Game Fish. Only the skin, fins, eyes and dead eggs of game fish may be used as bait, provided these fish were lawfully caught by angling. Skin, fins, eyes and dead eggs of game fish may be used where the use of bait fish is prohibited, but cannot be used where bait bans are in effect. All game fish kept must be counted in the daily catch limit, including any fish from which parts are used for bait."

If you cut the fins off you can use the fins. You can not use the whole perch.

Exactly. I have been a member of this AO forum for just short of a year and have found out some interesting things from some of the threads as presented. I have met a handful of members (at an ice-fishing event hosted by a young fellow who guided us all to a "hotspot" then left us for his "hotter-spot"). I have shared my knowledge, for what it is worth. All good fun. But I cannot figure out how any of these posts from a private lake by an "outdoorsman" who only fishes outside his own door and who's steady message from the beginning has been to help him clean up his lake, polluted by his neighbors, has any value to the rest of the fishermen in this outdoor fraternity. Private message invitations to private lakes for private parties should be just that. Private. A mutual admiration society seems to defeat the purpose of a forum designed to benefit all anglers. And what the heck do you do with 100 fish a day, Sun? Dave

You seem bitter Freedom55. If you have no interest in helping, don't read the thread. I've never been to Sundance and have no interest in going, but I find the updates very interesting.

Sorry you feel so slighted Freedom55. Does your definition of freedom not extend to many people who have a topic of interest you don't like? Does your definition of freedom not extend to your right to not read said topic? Do you feel that you have never been invited to this lake and are upset? I never, never invite people out ice fishing and never will . As for trying a hidden insult that for some reason we are not outdoorsmen...well that is uncalled for. You have no idea where we all fish, hunt, hike, etc. I have met way more than a handful of forum members and there is not one I would not happily go fishing with again. If someone you met slighted you...maybe your tone from this email rings the wrong way in people's heads that you are meeting. How about take a step back, relax, smile and just fish.

Getting people to come out netting was extremely enjoyable. I personally met many forum members. It was a shame you could not come out. There is much to learn from any fishing community gathering. Some days more than a 100 perch are caught angling. About 4000 perch was the maximum caught netting in a day. Everyone who volunteers got to share in the bounty. At $15 a filleted pound...not to shabby for some fun and fish and two hours spent outdoors.

Rather than start a fight complaining about topic choices...how about PM me with you name and phone number and I will get you out catching perch. I eat a ton of perch from this lake and they are tasty. I also give tons away to others that want to eat perch. Smaller perch and guts often go into my garden or under a tree.

In the end Freedom55...how about just ignore the topics you don't like. Then you would be potentially happier. Otherwise...join the dark side and come perch fishing some time. You will be a happier person for it.

Cheers

Sun

Hi Duke.

Sundance is a private lake community. Residents have access and can bring in guests. If you like catching perch...PM me you name and phone number along with watching for future posts on ice fishing outings... Lake Sundance is a man made lake about 33 acres in size. Average depth is about 22 feet. Besides fishing we have skating, tobogganing, swimming, boating, tennis, picnics etc. If you get a chance...I would highly recommend buying a home in a lake community if you are an outdoorsman. So much more to offer and an improved quality of life.

There are other forum members on this board that also fish here a lot and often bring in guests.

Hope that answers your question.

Cheers

Sun

Since this was my post let me reply - If you don't like don't read it and don't post replies...Read what Administrator Rob Miskosky states on Message Board Rules:

Now show me where it states that I cannot post pics from a private community lake…I can guarantee you that I am going to keep posting pics from this lake and we will have forum members out fishing the lake with us….And how do we get the forum members to come out, we post it on this forum…If you don’t like keep it to yourself.

There are also now many, many lakes in Alberta that have been the target of vandals...illegally introducing perch into stocked trout lakes. The information we are gathering will be freely provided to any Fish and Game association and F&W such that maybe what we learn can be tranferred to other lakes to help with their problem.

We have learned a lot this year about timing, volunteering hours, catch rates, disposal etc.

Cheers
