Gotta tell ya guys…
Did several lil rivers and I’m just super impressed with the size and number of fish.
Dat football Cutty eh? Wow.
I fished that exact waterbody 25 years ago… it was chock full of dinks… we’d celebrate a skinny 12 incher in that water.
Great times. By buddy landed some great fish.

Cold enough that I’d lose feeling in my feet after 5 min of wet wading. Which surprised me really.

Bessie,
You just discovered the upside of WD where all the little ones are gone leaving enough groceries for trout to grow large.
However, the downside is ugly. When the big ones die, there are none.

I’ve been wondering that lately how widespread it is, the lions share of the cutties I’ve caught down south have been more than a foot now for a couple years. I wonder if we will start to see some develop immunity and start to rebuild soon

Where are you seeing the little ones on the Crow? I've heard lots about smaller fish up high, but not many small ones down around the lease / 507 bridge area.

Hi,
Herd immunity will take many years depending on the source of breeders. The Madison River took over 30 years recover to 80% of the rainbow population prior to WD.
And Bessie, what are tonnes? And what would be their source?

Don I have a feeling you’re right, it’s going to take some time before we have any herd immunity, in the mean time I sure hope our fishery managers have a plan. It’s really fairly simple, maintain a broodstock of native trout and whitefish and supplement fish stocks until the herd immunity establishes. This is probably the biggest thing they ought to be doing fish wise right now before our blue ribbon fisheries collapse which they likely will

I dunno what to think about WD being down here Don.
I’ve seen/caught plenty of dinks in the OMR system, both above and below tha dam.
I got lots of lils in the castle system…. And the Crow has really surprised me with a showing of all class sizes… I was super surprised that the lower crow just outside the dam area had so many eager lil risers.
No signs of WD on any of them.
Just one fishers observations though.

If the Oldman drainage follows other WD effected waters, you are holding the last of them.
When WD hit the Madison River, the fly shops in West Yellowstone dropped from 13 >2!
