The only way his excuse would hold water is if it were a semi-auto handgun with a clip and with a less than hair trigger, like simply breath on the trigger.

No, that one is definitely a single action

He must have the same lawyer as Jussie Smollett, thinks everybody's dumber than they are.

It's interesting that he made that statement not long after he "lawyered up".
It's totally disrespectful to the victims family and friends IMO just to save himself. I hope this backfires on him and he's blackballed for future work after pulling this stunt.....

That is clearly a single action. Only way it fires is if he manually cocks hammer back, and manually squeezes the trigger. Amazing he did neither of those things, and didn't aim it at anyone, yet managed to kill one person *AND* strike the person behind them. That's a hell of a lot of unlikely things happening in one event.
I'm gonna go with Occum's Razor on this and say he is a lying bastard, and that he did cock the gun, point it, and pull the trigger. His hogwash story is an impossibly dumb gambit to pretend he isn't absolutely guilty of all 3 actions.

No, he was definitely using a single action.

The pistol in the picture looks like a Uberti 1873 prior to 2016 used a transfer bar system to prevent accidental discharge after 2016 they use a floating firing pin either way there is no way it went off with the hammer down.

Simple, a loaded gun will not fire when held by celebrities or rich people. It has to do with the amount of money they hold in their hands. These items simply stop working when exposed to to much cash chemicals. The same as a knife will not cut in the hands of ex football players, once you understand and trust the science you will change your opinion.

I was sympathetic at the outset because it sounded like Baldwin was handed a gun that had been declared safe by one or more experts. Being an actor, knowing nothing about guns, he followed the script, pointed it, fired it and accidentally killed someone. Lots of blame to go around, primarily to the armorer or whoever looks after guns and ammunition on a set where most people know nothing about firearms.
Now he must by lying because the single action revolver would not fire without the trigger being pulled.
My sympathies were misguided.

And with his anti firearms stance he “must” know all about firearms.

So, did the single action cock itself as well?
Gotta remember, actors LIE for a living, he was pretty much the boss on that set, he, above everyone else, should be held accountable, “I didn’t pull the trigger, I didn’t point the gun at anyone” sound like big steaming load of horse manure!!!
Where does one purchase one of these “magic” guns that kill people, by themselves???

Exactly my point! What I meant by double action is that you have to pull the hammer back then pull the Trigger. If he was handed the revolver, with the hammer pulled back and didn't check it, he is dumber than I thought, which is really, really, really DUMB lol

not for nothing, but I have never in my life seen a handgun with a clip. Are you thinking some old german mauser style thing? I'm not sure that is what he had, think it was a revolver.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the difference between single action and double action firearms. That is basic info from the Canadian Firearms Safety Course. You may want to revisit that.

I could care less, never owned a hand gun and never will. I will continue to call it a double action for the simple reason that you have to do two things to fire it lol

Last time I checked, it was physically impossible fire a single action UNLESS, the hammer was was cocked, something just don’t add up…..
Is he claiming he was handed a gun with the hammer cocked?
Iffin so, that is beyond stupid, but wouldn’t surprise me in the least!!

Man you seem to have a have a hard time comprehending what I am saying and so I will say it again, I could care less what it's called hoping the bold text works this time lol.
The hammer has to be cocked and the trigger has to be pulled before it fires anything, so Baldwin is a liar as well as an idiot.
Cheers N40

Does he really believe that anyone is gullible enough to believe this nonsense?

Baldwin must be a U2 fan, lyrics from God Part 11:
" I don't believe in death row, skid row or the gangs, don't believe in the Uzi it just went off in my hands"
Creeky....

Fact be known, I do not need to research handguns because you cant use them in Canada, so they are not practical for my uses.
Personally, when I am bow hunting or fishing in bear country I have a defender strapped to my back with 2 - 3" magnum Hi Shock Slugs followed by 3 SSG rounds, and my system does way more damage than a handgun will ever do.
I will let the handgun experts study them until they are silly and all have PhD's on the subject, it is of no interest to me.
Now if I lived in the USA I would own several and one of them would definitely be a Colt Python 357 Magnum because they are so purddy!
And that is a fact

Well if you are going to offer up an opinion on whether a handgun is a double action or a single action revolver.
Knowing the difference between the two would be a good thing to research.
No matter where you live.
