Nice, but the day I pay 39K+ for a Pinto is the day I start to vote Liberal...

Cool car. I know it's not your thing but I also just saw a Vega for sale. That brings back hotrod memories

Man you’d need a good budget for tires.
Nice car

Lot of money for a fire starter. I wouldn't go higher than the cost of a BIC.

I'd take the 302 Boss for a bunch less money. If anyone needs a box for the Pinto, look for a 1970 Dart shell.

Nice car
Mine has about 150 HP more. Depends on the tires used. Mine hooks hard & pulls like a freight train.

Anyone thinking 40k is too much for that level of a build has no idea of the costs to do so.

My engine alone is worth18k. When I bought the Quick Time bell , it was $500.00.
Called Mopac for another build I'm doing & the cost went up to $1100.00
Re-built Top Loader is about $1600.00 now.
The Super Comp shifter I have is now going for over 1k.

Tons of custom work done to that orange car. I'd bet it would cost 60+ to build one today , to the same level.

Pintos have a race history going back to 1971.....and they are still being built.

Also , anyone that truely knows , the fire thing was a myth. Other vehicles of the time had worse "problems".

ie: GM trucks with side tanks........

In this upside-down world, I just can't keep up with the deep changes. Even the Pope has changed his beliefs - yet one thing has remained a constant; Reeve's defence of the misunderstood Ford Pinto.

Here's wishing, it will ever be so!

Pretty much! A lot of cash for a vehicle that doesn't do anything but go in a straight line.

Not counting the PSC hydraulic steering system I have about 8k in just the front axle of my buggy and over 30k into the build so far. So, I have no issue believing it would take 60k to build that Pinto. There’s no real question there. The question would be why not start with something that will be worth something once you spend that 60k? If you love Pintos and don’t plan on ever getting rid of it then the cost really doesn’t matter. But, if you do have to sell it be prepared to take a real loss because the market for hopped up Pintos is very small compared to more popular cars.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually dig it. It would be a fun car and the build quality looks great. But it will take the right person to sell at that price.
