Well done.. solo bighorn sheep hunting in Alberta is as mentally and physically tough as they get. Your story reminds me of my hunt from this august. You won't soon forget this hunt.

What a great story very impressive! Curious as to what kind of spotter you ran?

I ran a Nikon ED50 with the 13-40x eyepiece. It's lightweight, but at times left me wanting a little more zoom and a little larger objective for more light-transmission.

LJ, congrats on your first.
good on you for getting the ram out in one go.
22.5k is a real slug with 100lbs for sure.
the second trip mustve been a lot easier with just your camp!
My last ram was solo but the weather was just above zero, so my loads were about even at probably 75 or 80lbs for the two trips.
cheers,
Mike

Big congrats and great story.
I went on my first backpack sheep hunt this year too. But didnt connect however we saw several rams over multiple days, just none legal.
its a real mental game compared to deer and elk hunting.
Cheers
John

An excellent article congratulations. Good to see that you went for it and now you'll have something to remember from the rocking chair much, much later in life. Thank you for sharing this adventure.

Thank you and congratulations! Appreciate the share, I've gone up into the mountains twice now and I'm addicted for mountain hunting even though my partner wasn't lucky on his mountain goat. Sounds like the weather was great for you and everything worked out. Great job and keep up the hard work!
