Lloyd McMahon is the president?
I’m asking because APOS no longer lists their directors or president.
Seems like a proud organization.

I can't find the listing any more but the buyer had a screen name of GreatWhite1 or something like that. If I remember correctly, GreatWhite1 bought all three tags (moose, antelope, turkey)

Yep, it was Greatnorth1 from spruce grove that won them all
The final bidders was then and the guy from iron river who has bought the auction ministers elk tag a couple times.

Yep…. He’s the president
I’ve only met the man once, he attended our GOABC AGM 2 weeks ago. He’s interesting…… to say the least. Definitely thinks very highly of himself

So the president of apos got the 3 new minister tags to happen in a timely enough fashion that he was able to purchase all of them? Is that what I'm hearing? And we are happy with how they are operating?

It's almost like there's a bit of a conflict of interest? lol
Hard to believe an upstanding organization like apos, led Alberta's most notorious poacher, would allow that to happen.

And instead of a raffle they held an auction that wasn't promoted or advertised to drive up interest and prices. Sounds reasonable.

You guys are good a laugh. Just because a guy has a handle “GreatWhite” doesn’t mean great white holdings lol.
Lloyd is NOT the president of APOS. A gentleman I personally know has been the president for the last 4 years.

You're kidding, right?
Lloyd is NOT the president of APOS. A gentleman I personally know has been the president for the last 4 years.
You've got a guy three posts up, who also happens to be an outfitter, that talked to him two weeks ago saying that he is in fact the president. If I was betting I'd go with torkdiesel on this one. Also seems odd that an organization like apos doesn't list their executive on their website anymore. I know they used to, even when they had another poacher for president, although slightly less renowned than Lloyd lol

Why would I waste my time?
A. The fact they don't name their executive on their website anymore speaks volumes.
B. torkdiesel and I have definitely disagreed on a few things in various threads, but I don't think he's a liar.
C. I don't care.

Who is the president now ?
I heard Lloyd was last year, then he showed up at our AGM two weeks ago as a representative of APOS with Jeanna so I just assumed he was. Traditionally the president comes from APOS, not just a random guy.
He didn’t say he was the president, I just assumed he was.

Apparently it's a secret.
Apparently it's not Lloyd.
Apparently you'll have to email apos if you want to know.

So is LM still on the apos board of directors?
Not that it lends credibility to the organization, or legitimizes what appears happened with the new msl permits, if he’s only a director and not the actual president.
Since you seem to be in the loop, and as mentioned earlier they’ve taken it off their website, maybe you can answer? Of course it’s understandable if you don’t want to.

I think everyone is focusing on the wrong point here.
AEP got the contract to APOS, good for them for making it happen. Shows that they are organized enough to get it done. I don't fault them for this one bit.
Why didn't AEP get the contract to AFGA or even let them know that the tags were available for raffle if AFGA was able to get organized in time (that is up for debate since the Elk, Mule Deer, and Sheep raffle still isn't available)
To me, this isn't about the fact that APOS was able to get organized enough to take the tags to auction.
It is about the fact that AFGA wasn't aware they tags we available and going to auction until I let them know and sent them the link.
It is about how AEP and the Ministers office didn't present AFGA with a contract for the raffle tags.
It seems like everyone takes every opportunity to bash APOS when the real culprit here is AEP.

I also raised this concern with AEP. I don't understand why the tags are sold in January but the raffle is drawn in August.
To me, this gives the auction buyer an unfair 7 month advantage over the resident raffle winner.
2-3 weeks doesn't give a lot of scouting opportunity if you draw the mule deer tag and are looking for a giant velvet deer.
Also, family time, vacation time all come into play and planning needs to occur for any of these tags.
Further to that, if you win and have the means to hire an outfitter (and want to) the auction buyer had a 7 month head start on talking to and securing the resources required.
Seems fair........

Nope, we didn’t get the elk tag until sept. 3rd . We have prairie zones close to home we couldn’t hunt on opening day. We also had a bit harder time getting permission on some places because this draw came out later then the regular draws. So places were already full. We are still obviously very grateful for the tag and it was incredible opportunity to hunt different zones

That’s disappointing, you should have had the tag well before any elk seasons opened

Would that not be AEP’s fault for not getting the tags out sooner?

Not sure who would be at fault
I bet if you asked, you would get a lot of finger pointing and blaming someone else

Did the moose and Pronghorn tag come out of the Outfitter Allocation?
If not, APOS has no business managing these licenses.
The Turkey license obviously did not.
Get APOS the heck out of selling RESIDENT ALLOCATIONS!
I've never seen a delegated authority be so secretive in hiding who their executive are.
This purposeful hiding in the closet tells us that APOS has decided to cover their tracks by walking in the dark.

Great White Holdings not so Great
Going back to 2013 see the link provided by Walking Buffalo that details the sordid history of Lloyd McMahon and his nasty outfit.
http://www.canlii.org/en/search/sear...Holdings%22%20[/B]
So in the ensuing 9 years since that post the situation of APOS and Lloyd McMahon has not improved.
Just sad.
