Default Magnetic light mount

Has anyone ever used the magnetic weapon light mounts from olight or nitecore? How well do they secure to the barrel?. Seems like a good idea for a camp gun.

When I was going to Texas to Hunt pigs a few years back I tired out a few different light mounts. Pic rail, scope clamp and the magnetic. I ended up using the scope clamp version as it gave the best results using a scope. With open sights I would have gone with the Pic rail. The two magnetic mounts I tried were not strong enough to hold a light in place when rapidly swinging the gun. If there had been a wider piece of metal to put the magnet on it might have worked but with the gun I was using there wasn't enough purchase.

Mine came with the light setup but it looks similar to this one. Having the beam of the light directly above the scope and just behind the Objective lense made it very easy to see the game looking through the scope.

I currently use a 1" clamp with a short section of rail ( when mounting on a scope tube or 12g mag tube) or a low profile 45rail when on a pick rail w open sights. I mount my lights into a 1" low scope ring and clamp it to the rail.. just thought the magnetic clamp would be handy if they worked. Thanks

This is what I would like. But it would be a complete custom option.

You can actually buy those slip on barrel mounts. They work on just about any rifle. They even make a split one to fit rifles with a front site still on it. The one disadvantage to the under barrel light is you visibily of the target is not near as good looking through the scope as it is when you put the light on top of the scope itself.

Split barrel clamp mount, Picatinny style

I might do that. The one I posted is like a barrel band. But it would require some expense.

There is a barrel band version like the one you posted that has two or three small hidden set screws to orient and set it, rather than the old solder on style like the one looks like on the Model 70 you posted.
