Default Snuck Away from the Lake to Break In a Weaver Rod

So May long weekend is typically put the dock in and clean up the property time. I think the dock turned out particularly impressive this year...

We also re-homed about 30 bats knocking down an old building on our property.

But enough work. Last year I asked Mat at Weaver's Bent Rods to make a custom rod for an old line counter I had lying around. As an 8' one piece rod, it took some time to get it from Cold Lake to GP. But I finally had a chance to take it out Sunday to fish lakers in northern B.C. I managed to christen it on our first drift over our favorite hole. In true ice fisherman fashion, I caught it vertical jigging a T.C. Moto.

We saw some people trolling in an odd spot when we went out, so we thought we'd try it on the way back and my son got into a nice laker as well. Precision Trolling is like cheating at this time of year when the fish are shallow (water was 37*F all over this lake all day )

All in all it was a great day on the water, as I'm sure many enjoyed with the weather we had this past weekend.

Obligatory boat dog picture on the trip home. I told the wife I thought he looked like a Costco chicken. lol.
