Dickson Trout Pond
Does anyone know if there is ice on Dickson yet?
Also, I've never fished there before, so any hints on tackle and bait would be a big help. And can you use a gas auger there? I heard that gas outboards aren't allowed...
Thanks,
Mustard

one of my absolute favorites
shrimp ring "cooked" with garlic salt is good
power bait "orange"
leetches work better in the winter but worms in the summer. Not sure if ther is ice but by the weekend it will be good. I'm going on saturday look for the 6 man eskimo quickfish and say hello it will be the big red one

I plan on heading out Sunday. My buddy has a Christmas party Friday night and is expecting to be too hungover to fish.
Let me know how your luck is Saturday.

There was 3-4" of ice last weekend, so it's got to be good to go.

I have. In fact, come to think of it, I've used (and seen others) use gas augers on trout ponds where I know electric motors only. Never thought about it though, so if I'm doing it wrong, someone should tell me.

power augers are allowed but be kind and fill your auger at the service station before you head out
Have to make sure our children have places to fish with their children and their grand children

Totally...my eskimo only uses 3-4 tanks a year and I only would fill it at home, not on a lake. Who does that anyway?

there was about 6 inches of ice I was ther for four hours and caught 4 nice bows and four suckers that never went back down the hole. They do so much damage I wonder when they will drain the lake again to get rid of that scum..
Started fishing at about 11 and it was steady they were hitting light so lots of fun..

Yeah, those suckers are no good. Sounds like you had a good day in all.
I gotta ask though, what do you mean by "cooked" shrimp ring? Was that working this weekend?

Haha, I might of had a bit of a moment there....
I thought maybe there was a fancier method I wasn't sure of. Maybe something like this:
