I think fans would prefer to see players get an equal base salary and then get a share of bonus money for performance metrics TBD.

Then players can’t sign amazing deals and then never live up to expectations.

Pay for performance.

I feel we are so close to having a cup worthy team.

Need a stronger left winger. An upgraded defender. And then fingers crossed on goal.

Kinda funny that Evander Kane didnt even make the list for the oilers when he is McDavids left winger! But I am not a hockey writer.

Thought we were weaker on the right side.

Very good point. Playoff performance in my mine puts him in the over perform category.

Oilers sign Yamamoto for 2 years at $3.1MM year.

On Jul 26 signed Puljujarvi to 1 year at $3MM.

Default Oiler exceeding cap space?

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/oilers

Looks like $6 million over right now.

So who to ditch?

You're taking Smith and Klefbom being put on LTIR into account yes? Option is there to run a smaller roster as well.

Reading the ? On the page it isn’t clear to me if that is the case.

Curious to see what changes.

If you read his article he had Kane on the right side because he plays both sides.

Yes they go into LTIR when the time comes. They are about $300k still over cap with that I think though. Long ways to go before opening day usually someone is recovering from a training injury or hurt by then As well

Yes, he plays both wings but he is listed mostly as a left winger.

He played left with Connor and Jesse, Connor and Yamo, Connor and Drai. I believe he played right wing with Hyman and Connor though. Plus there were a couple other combos.

Factor ballpark $6.5M moved to LTIR. They'll make a trade or run a short roster on opening night I suspect.

well boys, i had to go all the way back to page 5 to find the spoilers thread! thought maybe i should do a post, just to get it near the top again. tough when a flames fan has to reach out and renew because there isn't enough interest from spoilers fans to say something. maybe its because there IS no news from spoilerland!

grab your asses boys.....were going to kick them all over the block this winter!!

I for one will just let the Oilers performance on the ice do the talking. Nothing to get excited about for any franchise really. Training Camp is still about a month away and were talking 6 weeks till the regular season.

X2 on the last 2 comments on this thread. We'll see you all on the ice where it counts and as Oiler fans, we only need to count down the days. Talk is chirp, I mean cheap.....

haven't seen/heard any rumours, but they could probably use someone who can put the puck in the net.

4 of the top point getters in the playoffs isn't enough? Think one of them had more goals than the flames did for a pretty good stretch in the playoffs didn't he?

We need to shore up D for injuries, scoring is the least of the concerns but kessel on the power play or even second power play would be ridiculous. Keep teams in fear of taking penalties, unfortunately seemed like even the refs were scared of the oilers pp last year lol.
