Default Cougar: Important Changes for 2022

You would think the cancellation of the boot season for cougar in the 400 zones would be added to the important changes for 2022 in the regs. I’m hoping this is an error on the publisher’s part.

It was open last year, I’m guessing someone made an oops when printing the regs .

Most of the 300’s are not open till December and were not open November last year either. I have called in 2 cougars in the last 3 years well deer hunting in November. I actually had to put a shot in the dirt last year at under 10yards with a cougar that would not leave after I yelled at it

I am watching the regs closely hoping for a November first opening so I can carry a tag just in case I have a close call when I am deer hunting. There is no lack of cougars in some of my deer hunting spots

One more close call I will be tracking down the right people to lobby for a proposed change in the season

If you look at last year’s regs there were a lot more zones opened up for boot hunters. Just noticed though that 412-446 opens up from Aug 25-Nov 30.

I only pay attention to the WMUs I hunt so I don’t know but don’t doubt it. All I can say is there is no lack of cats where I am so don’t know why there is a shorter season

It’s not like guys without hounds are seeing high success rates
