Tall Target test your stuff. You're able to 100% see what your scope is/isn't doing. Lots of info out there on some other forums covering exactly this kind of optics stuff. Garbage scopes need kid gloves and witchcraft to make them run. Don't accept that as "Okay" - It's not. There is gear out there that works properly, every time.

To expand a bit: I'm generally a field shooter, and far from an expert. But to expect a hunter who sees an elk or sheep of a lifetime, and dials, but then has to remember "Oh dial forward, and then back up. And then dial wind" is ridiculous. Too many variables to screw up/forget/do wrong during the adrenaline rush.

Gear that works dials properly, every time. No tapping/banging/back-and-forth/witchcraft needed (Pro-tip: hold for wind.)

If you shoot competition. He is correct. And if you have a gun that shoot less than a 1/4 moa you would understand.
Nothing to do with the scope he shoots. I have shot nightforce comps march and many others.
It is how it works. Dialing down or left it’s a direct adjustment
And other up or right relies on spring and friction. Not many guns are accurate enough to realize the faults in a scope.
The scopes are all same.

Interesting. Out of habit, I usually use the handle of a screwdriver or something of the sort to tap the scope rather than using the next shot to "settle" the reticle. Will give that a whirl.

I was thinking that it can probably make enough difference if you shoot completion.

I ran into this (I think) once in real life when mounting a Leupold for my buddy. It was a brand new VX3i. When he was sighting it in, it was about an inch low. Next clicks hardly made any difference and was high after a few more. Then zeroed after adjustment and the scope was capped since and the rifle shooting where it is supposed to (it’s been. 4-5 years now). I never gave it a thought until watching this video, really. I am an amateur at best though, lol.
