Default Blood on the ice….

Both mine and their’s.. Had one of the sides on our Eskimo Quick Fish tent take a bad win gust and fold the side in. In doing so I got smoked in the head by that disk that the poles go in. Never had a gust like that in 30 years of ice fishing but the mountain currents on this lake are STRONG when they come through. Nice day to start off the year nevertheless…..😂😂

Great looking catch. Well done.

Sorry about the injury hope it did not require stitches.

That's quite a surprise when you're in your shack minding your own business.

You should have ran out yelling and screaming while holding one of those fish up to your head. I'm sure that would have freaked some people out.

Dam, that would have been a surprise for sure.
Had the side of our tent push in once knocked over the table, tackle box and the garmin too...crap everywhere.
At least ya didn’t get skunked.

All scabbed up and seems ok. I’ll be tying those sides down when I’m in those mountain lakes again though. It reminded me of Abraham lake how there can be no wind and then bam right out of the blue…

I always pin the sides also just for the reason you show. When those tents are new they are tight and they can hurt you. Had one buddy setting his up and almost cut his finger off. I don’t know how he managed that but he was lucky. Stay safe everybody.

Yup, if there is any gusting out there - we make sure we stake the tent into the ice, or park the truck next to the tent and tie off on the upwind side.

I have been in the same predicament - a gust can flatten the tent, and all the contents in a flash - like a truck running you over !!!!

I found myself knocked out of the chair laying face down over the hole, and the folding table other chairs and stuff blowing down the lake as the tent was violently slapping me on the back and head ..... was pretty crazy how violently and quickly that can happen - was funny after the fact ..... but a circus I won't forget.

Luckily the tent was partially pegged down so it didn't blow away with the rest of the stuff. The bag with the minnows was chased down (like Rocky chasing the chicken) a few hundred yards away.

Ya I had a similar experience camping beside Abraham. Beautiful calm evening then BAM 3 am the tent gets flattened onto my face by the wind and stays there till dawn. Like being a ******* in a hailstorm, can’t run, can’t hide, just sit there and take it. The things we do for fish. Good times

That lake is brutal for wind. There's a reason there's never any snow on it.

Ouch. Happened to me too. Six man tent installed with 12 ice screws. The wind ripped all 12 tabs off the tent. The screws were still in the ice with the tabs attached. 3 seconds later the collapsed tent was 300 yards downwind.

Yea for sure! Reminds me of that Abraham Lake area and it’s volatile wind currents.

I’ve experienced this phenomenon a few times.

What happens is high winds moving over the mountains can at time dip down and hug the ground. I’ve been in zero wind and then 30-60 seconds of 100+ km/hr winds and then calm again. Freakiest thing.

These winds can be deadly and very damaging.

We were on it yesterday. 8” of ice and nobody driving on it. I walk that lake regardless. Ice fishing is relaxing and exercise for us.
