I believe in the next 100 years, we will see "labor cities". People who will be housed, fed, medical/dental coverage, post secondary covered etc but no wages. They will live in supplied housing near the factory/farm where they work. Paid for by the factory owner, subsidized by government or even government owned....
The only binding agreement would be if you leave, you can never return.
Im betting there would be hundreds of thousands in these "labor cities".
All basic needs met, healthcare, menial to administrative and supervisory jobs, perhaps different only by number of days off......
And those of us who kept our firearms and had ambition and aspirations, well, we might live better because the lazy and useless and true socialists/communists are in their own little "utopia"
Right now, they are trying to have ALL of us in their "utopia".......
Like the song says "let the bodies hit the floor"

Strange New World is surprisingly similar to that scenario.
1984 is also very similar. Funny how authors of the mid 20th century were able to imagine a world like that. They were probably laughed at in their own time by their respective audiences who thought a world of such absurdity was impossible. Now it seems to be all too real.
Unfortunately I know a number of people who would gladly embrace a life such as you described, to them it would mean that they would no longer be shackled by such burdens as freedom and knowledge and responsibility and other such nonsense. It would allow them so much more time consume utter trash in the digital world and allow them to feel good about being victims of their own narcissistic compassions.
