Well we got out on the lake yesterday with forum member thorne and his trusty side kick Rich.
Being all veterans and even better have serving in the LDSH(RC) along with the fishing we had a hundred stories to entertain us between bites.
It was calm, hot and humid so perseverance was the key. The bite was slow but not in the boat as we chowed down on jerky and pepperoni but the best was Rich not only caught his first laker but several.
Great time on the water with awesome people!
Fishing and eating the bite was on.
thorne being thorne was alway attempting to get the lakers to turn on and he had the lakers biting just not staying on.
A few more minor adjustments in the future will produce better results.
I know he is tweaking things right now!

cold lake trolling
I ran a Waterwolf underwater camera for fun 2 weeks ago at cold lake.
landed 48 day 1 . all were 55-64 cm. I never realized how often the lakers will hit at the flasher.

Yep! It was a great day! Always awesome to meet former comrads and BS the day away...the bite was way up the next day with it being a bit cooler, a little breeze, and overcast... even had a little sprinkle of rain. Rich finally landed a really nice laker and had lots of action to keep us busy until we had to call it at around 14:00 to start the migration back to Edmonton. Now having had a great time chatting with 58th....I have to find a way to convince the wife to move to Cold Lake

Ok so we experience the “dock” during mid week wonder how many near misses and oopsies will happen over the long weekend
Karma has ways of dealing with those people that are well ya know what I am saying.....nothing like watching the lower leg bounce all the way up the ramp and into the parking lot after an idiot move earlier
Be kind, be courteous and lend a helping hand when you see it is needed.

Watching was cool as we critiqued their total lack of common scence and etiquette....but the sound!! OMG that sound as the prop was dragged over the concrete blocks and then dregged a trench up the road!! I'm sure they were wondering where that God Aweful noise was comming from! I'm sure they found out....eventually!

You are living the life of retirement .Having a few friends that are retired also and have the same interest as you can either make or break being retired . My friends are happy if they only go fishing /hunting once a year . I should be on the lake around noon trying for some walleye for starters then a few Lakers .
I just love fried walleye in butter with salt and a touch of garlic

Yeah so we picked off 22 in 90 fow and then they were gone so out to 150-170 fow and picking the suspended ones off from 60-80 fow.
Just food for thought come mid day.

I guess in the provincial campground boat parking lot ,I noticed about 4 trucks that where still in there when i came off the water at 8:30 pm
Yes i was out late trying to find some walleye but just a lot of pike and non stop action when the sun went down. Lol
Any ways ,returned the next morning saturday Aug 9 , and the these 4 almost new trucks were still there . Windows all frosted up . They must of left them there with there empty boat trailers over night . Not Smart think to do !
All 4 trucks had there side windows smashed in . A young lady in the parking lot with her dog called it in to the RCMP.
I think they need to post it ,no over night parking !

Ya....you can't leave anything anywhere anymore...I use to have an annual trip with my son on his Birthday ti cold lake where we would park there, spend a couple nights on the boat, and then head home. We had another buddy join us and during the first day on the water some POS drilled his gas tank and drained it. That was less then 4 hours after we hit the water. Only reason he found it so quick was because he left his phone in his truck and wanted to grab it. Needless to say we packed up and left. That was 2 years ago and I'll never leave my truck parked for any extended period of time there ever again... sad this is where we are in society...It gives me anxiety now just to leave my truck parked anywhere now just for a day of fishing because I always expect to come back to exactly what is described in the above post....so ya, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR RIGS OVER NIGHT IN COLD LAKE PP!

Yep, that sucks just so much.
I would love to catch them in the act. Can't say that would end well for them. Can't say it might not end well for me depending on their size and numbers but I have no fear (smart or not) when crap like this happens.
