Default Recommendation for Audio Book?

There is a few good threads on good books here, but I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for audiobooks?

A good book doesn't necessarily make a good audiobook as it can depend on the content and also the reader (author themselves or others, accents or not etc.)

Hunting and outdoor slant would be preferred, but open to any genre.

Thanks in advance!

Graphic Audio's "Trail of a Gunfighter" by Ralph Compton is a fantastic western audiobook series.

Jack Carr's series starting with The Terminal List is excellent.

For outdoors stuff, Meateater put out one called Campfire Stories.

My top 2:
Duma Key by Stephen King, read by John Slattery.
Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier, read by the author.

Honourable mention:
Under the Dome by Stephen King, read by Raul Esparza.
Not my fav King novel but it’s a very long audio book, so good if you’re like me and use it as an ongoing bedtime story. Narrator does a great job with multiple characters.

Not a fan of audio books, but I did enjoy

"Go The ... To Sleep" narrated by Samuel L Jackson

Maybe it matched my attention span

I really enjoyed "The Tiger" by John Vaillant, a true story of a man eating tiger in Russia.

Maybe 1984 by George Orwell
Or Brave new World by Aldous Huxley

That way you can see what the world will be like in the next 25 years.

Always a fan of any Dan Brown book. Aka the davinci code type Robert Langdon series. He does have others not related to Langdon though. Whatever book you get make sure it’s not the abridged version. Made that mistake once…

If you like history then I would highly recommend anything written and narrated by Bill O'Reilly. I normally can't finish an audiobook as I find my mind wanders and I realize I haven't heard a thing the narrator said in 30 mins. But I've completed his audiobook "Killing Lincoln" and "Killing Kennedy". Both are very well researched, read and engaging. Both give great details in to the lives of these men and the events that led up to their assassinations'. From their lives to the background on Wilkes Booth and Harvey Oswald and what led them to believe they had no other choice than to kill the POTUS.

Also if you don't have a library membership I would highly recommend getting one, it gives you free access to the Libby app which has thousands of free audiobooks.
