Lightbulb Fish Filleting videos

I know others have put these in various places on the boards, but I have had a hard time finding them myself, so I thought I would post 4 of what I consider to be the best, easiest and simplest videos from Youtube on cleaning pike, perch and walleye. Of course, this is entirely my opinion. If you have a different method, great. I just liked these and thought I would help out my fellow anglers.

For those of you that are having a hard time doing a decent job of filleting or cleaning what you catch, this should help...

Maybe this should be a sticky?

I just hope these vids stay on Youtube for a long time, because I think this is really handy info...

Best of luck out there,
Dean

I have never done this method below, but I included the video because I liked the diagrams. Quality of the video is a little lacking, but the method seems like it would work well...

is there one anywhere that shows you how to fillet a burb. without having to touch the ugly thing. I would try to eat one if I could only get by what they look like.

Jim..

Burbs are probably the easiest of all! I believe there are a few vids of that as well...I should've included that to the list!

If anyone finds a good burb vid, please post it.

As for technique:

Take a chunk of 2X8 or 2X10 and pound a 5 inch spike right through it at one end. Flip board over and impale Burb on spike. Cut a ring around body behind gill plates and use two pairs of pliers (one on each side of body) to pull skin right off like a glove. It helps if your board is 4 or 5 feet long because then you just stand it up against the wall and pull the skin down.

Then put board back on flat surface and cut down either side of backbone from front of fish to the back. Gently fillet the "tenderloins" of the burb away from the rib cage and there you have it. I haven't done it very many times and was a little intimidated, but after watching Calgarygringo do it down at PCR, it looked easy...and it is!

Good luck!

Default Burb and pike

That is a good way for burbs as I do a variation of that but once you cut the skin all the way around just pull his jacket of with 1 set of pliers. I ill give you a link to a good video that does the basics. I just have about a 4 foot by 18 inch wide 3/4 inch plywood and have a 4 inch screw facing up through the bottom and push the burbs head over. With the threads on the screw the head does not not move, then follow the rest of the burb video.
There is a good pike one that works pretty easy as well if it is not one already posted. the burb method works great as I have shown several of our fishing group in the summer and some a couple weeks ago at PCR.

Thanks for posting all of these videos in one place

I make a terrible mess when I fillet fish, and these will help.

Ken...

That is a great Burb video. I also used to do pike the way shown in the second video, but I found it didn't work well unless you had large pike.
