Default annealing old brass

i have some once fired Sako .222 brass 50pk from who knows when. the necks have become brittle so I was going to try annealing using a blowtorch drill and a socket. Water quelched or in a steel pail?

Steel pail od can.
Water does nothing except causing you to take the time to dry it out.

There is another thread about this

Basically do it in low light conditions and watch for it to just start to change color
Let them cool off gradually
