Default 4 Species Day

Braved the slick roads this morning and headed to the lake. Turned into a very nice day and the fish cooperated. Nothing overly big but all healthy and 3 of the 4 were let go to fight another day.

Seeing a lot of perch with this being the biggest I caught today.

The biggest pike, nice and healthy. Hoping they are making a comeback.

Healthy walleye I could have kept but let it go to grow. Caught a bigger one but did not have my GoPro set up so no picture.

Sorry for the dark picture, forgot to turn the lights on in my flip over. I have before this year caught a grand total of 1 burbot and that was in NW Ontario at Minnitaki Lake in 2006. This year I have caught 3 so far, with 2 of them in the past 4 days. I brought this guy home to try the so called poor man’s lobster.

Be back out on the ice Tuesday.

That’s a great day when you can accomplish that. Good for you. Hope all your adventures are that productive. I’ve only done that once at Sylvan.

Default Hanging out on the ice!

Thanks for the post John!! Nice set-up and FISH… congrats.

Tested out the new SM 40 10" light on Cow today. 8" of ice, 5’C in the sun (wow)… fishing slow.

Compared to my vintage Model 30… electric augers are the bomb!

Ice conditions for this time of the year are certainly reminiscent of the 1997 / 98 conditions.

Fire season 2024 could be a bitch.

Later!
