Default Scholarship and Bursaries

Looking for info or directions to scholarships or Bursaries for Alberta/Canadian students. My daughter just got excepted into U of C, any help would be appreciated. If it makes a difference she graduated with honors and distinction. Thank you in advance

Have he check with the school or student advisor.

Now a days they have a system for applying for everything one may qualify for.

That said if you are employed by a large company, in a union or are Métis or FN then you should check these separately.

and has not asked the guidance councillor what is available?

or whatever the woke name is for that position nowadays

and the Uof C website should have all the, scholarships

and local small towns have assistance sometimes including high school scholarships for advanced learning

Rosh, first off let me say congratulations to your daughter.

Your daughter should be eligible for a Rutherford Scholarship. Her high school guidance councilor would have all of the details.

Agree that checking with the union, employer etc is a good option.

Give this a look.

Also agree with using the guidance councilor as a source of info.

It is worth really digging and applying. My son did 6 yrs of university and graduated with less than 4k of student dept. He worked hard in the summer as well as had a part time job while he went to school but the most of his help came from scholarships and bursaries. They slowly dry up as you go as everyone wants to help students that are just starting so get after it.

Thanks for all replies so far! She is not in high school, she graduated last year and is taking a gap year. She wanted to work 1 year before university, so she won’t be talking to a counselor. She got info last year in grad year but it was limited. She will apply for Rutherford for sure. Only one through our work is my union but deadline was gone before she got excepted ( will apply next year). All info is very much appreciated, Thank you.
