Default Lesser Slave Lake March 7,8 and 9

Heading up to Joussard for annual Father and Son (F.A.S.T) tourny March 7,8 and 9. Renting shacks from Ladyhawk.
Any reports or advise would be appreciated.
After reading all the posts on burbot being good eating, will definitely keep some instead of turning our noses up and sliming them back down the hole. (They'll no longer count as a minus one on the personal total).
Years past it has always been a swedish pimple or jig head tipped with minnow for wallies and burb.
Any other info would be great!

A sweedish pimple this time of year for eyes? Hmmm, might be a bit agressive and not sure if would be my choice. Although, I've never fished slave so I'm not too sure. This time of year I prefer the subtle lighter presentation with smaller jig head and minnows.

I like to use a small minnow on a Silver Fox Strobe Spoon. I use the second smallest size black and silver being my fav although I have all the colors. Problem this year is you cant get small minnows. Try cutting big ones in half.
Every year I fish Slave with this combo and nail the Walleye and Perch.

When all else fails use the FiveO Diamonds tiped with a small minnow.

Heading for four days in a couple weeks.

I'm fishing further East at Canyon Creek, but over here the walleye are biting a minnow on a Pink Jig head.

Good luck Walker
I've never fished Slave in the winter but plan on heading there this weekend as well. I'm trying to decide whether to hit Faust, Joussard or farther west. I've only seen posts regarding Joussard -- do people ice fish these other spots?
Will report on Monday

Hello Pierce you can fish at Assineau,Canyon Creek, Kinuso,Wide Water and at Slave Lake beside Dog Island.I would stay away from Faust the ice is not that safe there I believe it is because of the gas underneath.I seem to catch fish at all these places well.
Have Fun the weather forcast looks to be good.
The ice is thick here and safe.
Going out to the narrows at Kinuso this afternoon fishing Derby there tomorrow.

Hey all. I am heading out to Snipe and Slave this weekend as well. Heard Snipe is slow. Has anybody been up there lately. As for reports on Slave, I know a few guys who have been going up there the past couple weeks and they have been doing really good. So for the one's who are saying it's dead, I don't know where you're fishing, but I'm guessing it's in the wrong spot.

Will report when get back on Sunday.

Walleye were hitting at big grassy on tuesday using white jig head and worms caught about 10 throughout the day, minnows just weren't working for us got one bite from 8:30 till 1 oclock, switched to worms and caught 10 walleye and 1 ling from 1:00 to 6:00, very windy and the road in was pretty sloppy but all in all a good day for slave

Hey 'Eye Hunter, we were out on Snipe on Thursday (the 4th) and the fishing was real slow up on the North end. I caught one 7 lb pike and saw a few perch looking down the hole. The ice was fine though, we drove across no problems.
