Question .257 Wby Mag Loads

I am going to start working on a load for my .257Wby tomorrow. I plan on using 110gr. Accubonds and start out with 72gr. of H1000 but every thing I've read is using CCI primers and I have Federal. Just wondering if this is going to cause problems? Any recomendations or favorite loads recomended?

The newest Nosler manual lists a starting load of 70gr of h-1000 with a fed 215 primer.

I have never found a difference with performance by changing primers, that being said, maybe some people have. I only use Winchester primers, mostly because they're usually available. My pet loads for my 257 Wby all use ReLoder 25 and I get extremely good accuracy with 100 grain TTSX and even better with 117 grain Hornady SST's. Start well below maximum loads whatever combination your using and work your way up slowly. Accuracy is my thing and mine likes them close but not at maximum loads.

Finding that "magic" load that works well in your rifle is all part of the fun.

just talked to a friend today who has been loading for his Vanguard Back Country in 257 Wtby....65 grs of H4350 pushed a 110 Accubond to 3550.....I believe he said 64 grs was a bit more accurate but 3550 is plenty fast for a 110.....

I used 61gr H-4831, 120gr partitions, Weatherby brass, Federal 215 M or Magnum Primers and 3.192 I think that is the recommended COAL, shot little over an 1 inch at 200 yards.

Default 257 loads

I worked up a load for my friends 257 120gr that was awesome 69gr of H870. The resolts were 5 shots under a dime at 100 yards off sand bags. 215 Fed primes. I just purchased a new Mark V Deluxe in the 257 and looking forward to getting out with it after Deer this fall.

I load for a buddies 257mag and it seemed to like 110gr accubonds with RL 25. I cant remember how many grains though. It was shooting just under an inch at 100 yards.
