Help me!
So the cheap tasco scope 4x that came with my .22 has now lost it's ability to zero.
I would like suggestions on the best 'bang for the buck' scope I can get, and still be in keeping with the quality of a CZ 452 Varmint .22
I am open to suggestions, and welcome any feedback.
I was also considering a red dot scope. Are they useless? Or not bad?

It depends on what you want to do with your rifle, but I like your original idea of the 4x scope. I think the best bang for the buck would be on the used market, but new I like the weaver rimfire 4x, I think they around $160. I've had one on my 10/22 for years, I find it just as nice as the leupold rimfire scope I have. I've got an older 2-7 Leupold if you're interested, works great just a little rough around the edges, you won't have to worry about it coming unglued on you.
I can't comment on the red dot, never used one.

I've got a basic bushnell 3-9 on my CZ .22WMR and it works fine. Cost less than $90. Sure it's not the quality of scope you would put on your big game rifle but I can see the targets and gophers fine at 100 yards. I have no idea how it is at first or last light. I use it mostly on sunny afternoons.

As you said, it's a cheap scope, but heck, a .22 doesn't exactly have the kick to knock a scope off. I wonder if there is any sort of warranty? I guess I wouldn't bother if it was 10 years old, but if you bought the combo last year.....

A red dot is useless on a .22 if you ask me. A fixed 4 power or variable 3-9 or 2-7 or something in that range is ideal.

Leupold Rifleman 3x9 or 4x12. Excellent bang for the buck and I have one on my CZ 452 and its perfect. Bushnell also makes some very good 3x9s' and the sorts that won't break the bank as was said above.
A red dot is pretty good for close range and tactical rifles but for your everyday .22 nope. On the cheaper ones the dot is too big, things run on batteries and for longer range, precision shooting of any kind it would be a waste of money.

Well, I tried the Rifleman 3-9x40 and compared it to a Bushnell Elite 3-9x40
The shop that had them on sale let me try both. I also tried a Bushnell 3x9x40 DOA but could not justify the PRICE!!!! almost 30% more!
I walked out the door with the Bushnell 3x9x40 elite! gonna mount and zero tonight

got a couple of the Simmons ProHunters 6-24 - maybe a bit big for the CZ - I have one on my Anschutz 22 and works well. One on a 17 as well...
Can't go wrong with a simple Bushnell 3-9. All of these scopes $100 mark.
Don't go with the red dot.

Thanks! I zeroed 85 yards, and had my way with some gophers tonight!
Can we say Head Shots for all? My CZ seems to really like the 32 grain CCI Quick Shok 1640's
Kinda makes a mess of the gophers too!

Hey Juice......send your old scope to Bushnell Canada, along with 10 dollars to cover postage back. I had the same scope...4X...dropped it HARD, and broke the crosshair wire inside... ...sent it away.....4 or 5(6) weeks later, I got a brand new world class 3-9x40. :That scope helped me sell another gun later on...not bad for an 18 dollar investment!!
