I'm not sure where you get the idea that I am implying that old hunters are the problem. I never stated that if you read my post. There are equal amounts of old and young that don't follow proper ethics in my area. I think we have a BETTER chance of educating young hunters rather than trying to RE-educate those with a life time of no ethics. I`m also not sure where you get the idea that I`m a younger hunter. You don`t even know me... I`m even older than 209. Don`t jump to any conclusions from what you miss-read on my post.

Well this is good to hear. Looks like the proposal is dead. As I had stated earlier let the group regulate it's self and look what happend. No need to start spoutin off about beef boycotts.Sometimes it pays to have a little faith.

The only way some of us "older folk" get excersize is to "Jump to conclusions"
and sometimes we even "Run off at the mouth!"

How is this law going to make things safer?

What? You maybe know of a law written that doesn't make things safer.

Well I'd hate to burst the bubble of all you road hunter's but according to the ACA report a poacher web site you guys are concidered poachers.

http://www.ab-conservation.com/go/de...ort-a-poacher/

You are a poacher if you:

Hunt or fish out of season
Road hunt
Night hunt
Trespass
Exceed bag limits
Sell wildlife or fish illegally

I see that road hunt is in fact in there but I wish they would spell it out better...do they mean shot OFF a road or is it the actual act of driving around. For the most part I hunt in the field but what if I'am driving to or from a hunting spot and I see a deer on land that I have permition on, as long as I am standing on the property( not the road) I can shot the deer. Now is that road hunting?

True.

But its what tends to happen after you found the game from the road that creates the problems.

If your process is to spot the game. Go ask permission. Park the truck and then go hunt. Or along these lines. Great.

If your process is to spot the game (from maintained roads). Slam on the brakes. Use the door, hood or box as a gun rest. Jump across the fence and quickly get your deer because you don't know whos land your on. Then thats creates problems and is illegal.

For some, it is the second process that is used. Way too much temptation (or desperation) for them as the drive until you see something is generally an ineffective way to hunt. But your within your rights to legally hunt however you want.

I have no intent to be preachy or judgemental....just was stating that the response of ABP was related to an ISSUE, that has become a problem for farmers/ranchers in some areas.

Road hunting would indeed be shooting off the road. If you are off the road right of way you are not road hunting. In some areas you are going to be standing on private property that you better have permission for.

Default Solution

Plain and simple................ more enforcement of the laws we have now, period. More laws will not make any difference.....they will still road hunt when they are out of sight of any enforcement personal, and it may increase injuries as the dip****e poachers shoot themselves trying to conform to a law such as this when they see an police/F&W/sheriff pulling up behind them etc. If they were more likely to get busted for it, they wouldn't do it, simple!

I do not shoot off the roads ,never have never will....and ONLY hunt on land that I have permission. I was just stating that the term ROAD HUNTING should be better explained.

The proposal recommends changing the law only for big game season, BS. Give the road hunters that do something wrong more punishment than a slap on the wrist, this is severe overkill. To the alberta beef farmers who cherish the freedom we do have in this country with firearms, you are attempting to take this one step closer to something like what the Brits have. I understand being ****ed at some road hunters but this is your freedom also.
If this became law it would do nothing to the people your ****ed at and open the door to the people who actually lobby against guns/hunting ( I'd bet not too many of them are farmers).

Give your head a shake.
I won't buy beef, I won't let hunting........ childish and stupid, this affects us all weather you see it yet or not (if it goes thru which I really hope it does not).

that is all
